Man, I forgot how physical the NBA was back then. MJ stated that the pistons style of play was the reason he elevated his strength and style of play.

That whole team would be banned from play today. The game is nothing like it use to be.

If it was the "Bad Boys" documentary from ESPN, I really enjoyed that documentary even though I hated the Pistons back in the day. Crazy how many of those fouls back in the day weren't even technical fouls!!! I did come away from the movie respecting all those players I must say.

That was the same one. Amazing how Thomas changed his outlook and demeanor over his career . Almost like the four horseman of the NBA

Sorry, but I have no respect for those Pistons. It was a classic case (unfortunately copied by others) of bastardizing a great game by turning it into utter cheap-shot mayhem... a more blatant version of the insidious garbage that is regularly perpetrated by the Rat's minions. If you can't win playing by the rules then make your own.

I remember that Pistons team well and let's just say that it's particularly sad when that crap gets romanticized by some like it was the "good old days". That team was despised for good reason. The league is a better place today for the realization that deliberately trying to hurt opposing players is cowardly and unacceptable.

To see an otherwise great player like Isiah Thomas embrace that garbage is particularly sad. MJ single-handedly keeping him off the Dream Team was just desserts.

I actually liked that Pistons team back in the day. I cannot say I was pulling for them over the Bulls but I did like their talent and how hard they played. Where I lost respect for Isiah and all is when they walked off the court before the game rather than congratulate the Bulls when they lost in 92. That was classless. While Laimbeer says it was his idea the reality is Isiah was the captain. He slinked out and left his teammates on the floor as the game was still being played just so he could avoid the traditionally congrats after a game. Classless.

I liked how physical the game was back then. Basketball is a contact sport. Well not anymore. However the Pistons stretched the rule book as far as they could.

Oh there's no doubt that Thomas & Lambeer would've spent more time in suits than in uniform in today's NBA. You're right, the game has evolved SO MUCH since then!
