Welcome back Joel Berry

So let me run this theory by you

Joel Berry never intended to leave but just to test the water and get evaluated before going as a Senior. Knox, who wants to play with Berry, starts balking at going to UNC because Berry is in the draft process and may not return. Says he will not come without Berry.

Berry knowing he is going to come back regardless and needs Knox as a playmaker with him gets wind of this and then withdraws to alleviate that concern for Knox prior to his announcement.

Just a theory.

. . and yours are . . ?

Go stick it Billy. FYI, my source told me he was coming back but that was a month ago. I haven't heard anything definitive since so unlike the dookie, I've just been talking possibilities. I thought he would return but it was far from definite.

Anything is possible and it makes just as much sense as anything else being thrown out there about his recruitment

BillyL is just a grump old dude who is negative about everything. I'd not even bother too much. He doesn't mean to be a grump. Just happens.

I like the theory also because it explains why he declared for exactly one day and why Duke supposedly was the front leader all the sudden a day or two ago.

It is odd that we learn Monday morning that he had entered the draft and now Tuesday evening he pulls out. There does seem to be something else in play here

Well... since he decided coming back was right, I'm certainly glad he went ahead and pulled the trigger. Can't hurt with Knox.

The only other theory I have is that his ankles are still bothering him and he did not want to go through the process not 100%. But, I really don't think this is the case.

I think that's a factor but obviously he's had 3 weeks since unc won it to have his ankles get better so you wouldn't think that would change his mind in one day about withdrawing

Joel's father said his ankles were about 100% . . it wasn't because of his ankles he came back.

Honestly, and this is just speculation, from that last podcast interview, it sounded like he was truly torn and the deadline was approaching so he went ahead and filed. For whatever reason, I guess his decision came clear today --- and it is the wise one given this draft. JB and his dad are team players and I'm sure they both realized it could impact a coming recruiting decision, so kudos to the Berrys for pulling the trigger once the decision was made.

The other factor I can think of is that NBA scouts are well aware of what JB can do and his fate in ths draft, so a first round grade wasn't happening this time. Come on back and be the man.

Trust me, so am I. You are welcome to perform whatever act of perversion on yourself that you little heart desires.

You are such a ****

Enough, you know what will happen and this time it won't be short.

backcourt will be better..Williams should be hungry to return healthy and start--Felton should be better than Britt..and I expect everyone to follow " the soul ' of the team..Berry....7th keep improving and where he fits?..if you want it-take it!

I think Billy's sources are probably on par with some of the better on here and Joel may very well have been leaning heavily towards leaving at some point. He did have the prerogative to change his mind. Thankfully.

Oh good grief guys, as far as I can tell you are both fine gentlemen and as Tar Heel fans, you can't be all that bad. Now, give it a rest and let's all enjoy the fact we get to see Mr. Berry one more year in Carolina Blue!

Woo hoo!

Now, let's get Bradley back, add Knox and watch the dookies collectively crap their pants!

Backcourt should be in great shape. Glad to hear JB is returning (selfishly). Pretty sure that Theo will return as well. If Tony decides to stay (and every mock draft I saw has him early 2nd round right now), we are legit FF contenders.

If, TB comes back, our chances to secure Kevin Knox improve greatly. W/O, I see no way Knox chooses us.

I would think berry is more important in securing knox than Bradley. Besides Knox will be announcing well before we know anything on Bradley
