What positions should Coach Davis look for now in the transfer portal?

From all the transfers, looks like he needs to look for everything. Well , except for a 5 star center going for his 5th year.

Believe you have pin pointed a lot of what some of us have felt all along. Jalen from what I observed this year was that he has a nice turn around jumper, but he seems to not fully trust his body yet. There was plays which he did not move laterally well, this should be expected considering what he has been through the past two years. With a good workout and training program over the summer, we should be able to view a different Jalen. But it's going to be a slow process, and bringing in a player for one year to play the 4 is the most sensible thing for Davis to consider. Give Jalen time to fully recover, then we can enjoy him for a year, or maybe two.
Washington will never be a big time contributor for UNC.

Brady is one archetype for a 4, but is not the only one. Washington, once he recovers his strength/athleticism AND gets over the mental hurdle of trusting his joints to hold will be a perfect 4 in our system! He doesn't have to be Manek, provided we get the shooters at other positions Hibs is currently looking for! It certainly looks like we will re-tool almost perfectly!

I want and would love to see Jalen hit the weight room hard this summer...put on 15 lbs of muscle where he can be a real force inside...this would also allow him to be a rotation guy for Mando

This is going to sound a little bit sacrilegious coming from me, lol.

But we don't necessarily need a ton of awesome shooters for this to work. It's really important you have one dead-eye shooter who knows how to play without the basketball. Manek's shooting wasreally important obviously, but he was the only player on the roster (this years and last) who knew how to play without the basketball. He knew when the backcut, he knew when to fade to the corner, he knew when to roll and pop. He had an understanding on space and setting up defenders. That's what we need to add. We need to add a guy that can shoot it, but knows how to move without the ball.

There were a lot of times the last two years where we're in an advantageous situation with an open guard cutting to the basket, where he's going to get met by Leaky's help defender from the opposite corner. But instead of cutting to the basket where Leaky gets a layup, or fouled, Leaky stays in the corner, gets the ball and either misses a 3 or hesitates because he can't shoot. There were soooooo many times where Manek turned that play into a layup because opponents were going to rotate to him if he didn't cut to the basket.

We need to add a guy who really knows how to play without the basketball. If we have one guy on the floor at all times who knows how to play without the basketball, we'll naturally become much more difficult to defend.

Spot up shooters are easy to defend. Shooters who know how to move and get open are the ultimate prize.

yes but you have to play him 10+ minutes a game to get acclimated to the speed of the game. not 1x every 6 games either

Any Luke Maye types out there? Smooth stroke and solid rebounder. no rim protection but we were a weak rebounding team by UNC standards.
