I know the CWS thread has info about who is leaving but I thought I might start a new thread to keep up with our baseball team. It is so hard to follow as roster changes are not as widely reported for baseball as for football and basketball. I saw that we have evidently already picked up a pitcher from an Ivy League school. Tom Chmielewski from Princeton. Looks like lefty potential starting pitcher. Hope others will add info as players make decisions. Does anyone know what high school recruits we already have?

Chmielewski went 6-6 with 3.40 ERA.. First Team All IVY and 3 time pitcher of week struck out 73 while only allowing 19 walks!!!

Could be an option to replace Sprague depending on Pence and Boaz availability or could be used as a leftie out of pen if Pence moves to starter or gets drafted

Ranked #31 class by PG and I’ve not seen any of the top guys in class mentioned high in draft which could be a bonus…
Class rankings for baseball are hard to judge at this point because of the rules for going straight to the pros. We could take a decent jump up depending on who goes straight to the pros for other teams. Or maybe even drop if we have some unexpected recruits go. One good thing about baseball is you have them locked in for 3 years, so if it's a good class then you are rewarded for multiple years.

I stand corrected as I’ve stated Sprague would need to be replaced but looking at the roster he was actually only a junior!!!

Osuna(who has no more D1 eligibility) and Ryker Galaska only 2 players that are in the transfer portal from article on Tarheel Tribune

I'm just going to put this here instead of starting a new thread since it's kinda related. I think #12 is pretty fair to start the year. This should be at least a super regional team if everyone stays healthy.

The CWS run was outstanding entertainment this year.
Another one next year wouldn't surprise me. I know people kinda focus on some of the big names that we lost, but there is still a lot of talent left. The pitching staff is still really good and there's plenty left on offense. I think if Forbes can find another bat in the portal then we can be right there again as long as we stay healthy.

Funny thing about Sprague is I sat next to his father on the Denver to Omaha flight for the CWS last season. He somehow got routed from Boston to Denver.

We talked about the upcoming CWS and he said his son would be coming back in 2025, but I guess the Red Sox being the hometown team beat us out.

I go to the CWS every year since 2013, I highly recommend it.

No doubt it's an exciting atmosphere, attended it regular when we were living in Nebraska.

On my bucket list to get there one day!!
They sell general admission seats in mid-April online through ticketmaster but check the CWS site for link. The tickets go fast and now they are usually near the outfield.

My UVa friend bought our tickets last year from ticketstub possibly from a local seller. They also sell tickets in the morning of each gameday, but that sucks.

Also, you need to buy hotels in like January-March or else you might be paying $1000 a night. You could stay in Council Bluffs Iowa in cheaper hotels if you don't mind driving 10 miles each way or get a hotel in west Omaha far from downtown.

We stay downtown to walk to the games, food and bars until 2am.
