It would be nice if they learned more about civics. Seems like very few younger kids understand that.

Oh Pardon me, Did I send this to you personally? If I did please accept my apologies.

I can still sing MOST of them. Sometimes, I need a head start, but I pick-it-up and sing along once it starts. The US History SHR's were VERY watered-down and whitewashed. But, they were cartoons geared for kids in grade-school. The concept of Japanese internment camps would need some serious context and probably not work well in a jingle-based cartoon. Even the way they portrayed the American Revolution (the WAR part) had to be done so it would be understood by baby boomer's kids.

Gen X kids had very little adversity, collectively. We had it pretty easy. I was sorta worried about WW3 and nuclear annihilation, but that's all.

I liked the grammar videos best! Some of them were just cool songs!

Two of my favorites:

Here's the weird thing about message boards. If you start a thread, people will often reply to it.
Yes this is very true and I agree. However just because one disagrees with a thread there is no reason to tell someone to STFU. Does it? Let me clear that up. This phrase would apply to anyone posting about the Carolina Basketball Program in a negative way of course!
Amazing that a thread about how children were once taught things in a way they could understand would draw the ire of folks these days. And people wonder why I am "OldSchool".......

I don’t think anyone is wondering why you’re “oldschool”

No you posted it in a public forum without any restrictions on who sees it and can respond to it.
Gotcha Chief! Wait, How could I post it in a "Public Forum" in any other way than for everyone to see and respond to without restrictions? Isnt that the meaning of Public Forums?

That is exactly what ran through my mind...

It is abundantly clear why he is old school. Born old, stayed old, remains old.

He's like the decoration in Hammond's walking cane in Jurassic Park... stuck in time...

Personally, I'm scared that every year she holds public office is a year I won't be able to see those yams uncovered

Nobody told you to STFU.

Amazing that a thread about how children were once taught things in a way they could understand would draw the ire of folks these days.
Except that's not what this thread was about, which you made plenty clear in the OP. Also, suggesting children are no longer taught things in a way they can understand is asinine.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that you're a terrible poaster and it's a shame you've resurfaced.

You need to learn to stop holding back.

Lets address the asinine comment of your post first and foremost. Are you saying that common core is a good way to teach mathematics? Because I know several teachers who teach it, and they hate it and say all it does is confuse their students. So I think I will rely on the experts who obviously believe that teaching todays students isn't as good as in the past.

Now to respond to your obvious hatred, and to those others who love to "get the popcorn ready so to speak."
I am so sorry to disappoint you that I am back, albiet on a semi regular basis. It does seem the clique is still alive and well and yet, one of the old crew is missing, permanently I might add it seems.
As yet I haven't made the slightest gesture of hatred towards anyone, or defamed anyones name since posting again. Already several have baited me, but the easy thing to do with those who act in such a way is to use the ignore button. It's the adult thing to do wouldn't you say? I am in no means talking down to you, just speaking the truth.
You are certainly welcome to judge me, its your prerogative. This is after all a message board not a club with actual bylaws and the like.
Let me assure you that you are not dealing with the same person as before. I have learned to block people who seek to engage me with words meant to anger. I dont mind civil debate in the least, but once the name calling begins I am out.
Have a blessed day.....

That sounds like another politician I know who people love to hate:)
Thats certainly a possibility except I don't do twatter or facebad. I am off those platforms for years. Its made quite a difference. Although I do openly and proudly support President Trump. So haters can hate, thats on them. So moving on, isnt it a beautiful day today in North Carolina? :)

I was comparing @Raising Heel's response to trumps typical response.

PS, I voted for him as well

Good Man. Notice I didn't say for you to STFU or use some other term liberally used on here by the some? Trump is the first President who won't back down or take crap from either the libs or the cons, and THATS why he was elected. Go Heels! #Trump2020

You can't use the word asinine. I already used it, so you have to come up with your own word to use.

This is the first time anyone has mentioned common core or mathematics, so it's odd you think I've offered an opinion on either subject. Apparently you've had an imaginary conversation with me that you forgot to tell me about.

What a pillar of virtue you are. Oh, whoops.
I see that Liz Cheney just sent this to AOC. Maybe she will finally get it, since it's written for children!

Let me assure you that you are not dealing with the same person as before. I have learned to block people who seek to engage me with words meant to anger.
Oh no. Anything but that.

Asinine is a great word. I used to use it all the time, but not much anymore. I'm going to have to start using it again.
