Why do we not just add a cheap wing and be done? I seen a bunch of available wings that would probably easily accept 700k.. sure, none of these guys may be a lights out shooter, but they are physical and will give us much needed depth at the wing position. And, at that cheap of a price, why not take the risk and maybe one of them turns out to be way better than expected? Grant-Foster is one of the oldest players in college basketball and averaged 20ppg two years ago..

I'd rather get a 6'10" bruiser whose job is to use his 5 fouls. We are not going to find a stud wing scorer available now (much less for that price) so let's fill some post depth.

Caleb will do fine at the wing. Those that see him as a 4 havent watched enough film on him. 3 level scorer, decent handles and has a motor. Can he defend...No idea, but I we need to score more points than the other team and all of our scoring just left.

I've seen him live more than once --- back when he was trying to be a wing, and then after he came to his senses. He's ain't a 3. Maybe he'll eventually shoot and handle well enough to morph into one at the pro level, but not now.

I've only seen his YouTube stuff. He looks like a 4 to me with a pretty great skillset for a 4. I think he would have some skill advantage at that position that would go away if he tried to play the 3.

I'll always tread lightly before I believe anyone who says a taller guy is a 3-level scorer at this age. I'll believe that when I see it. Very very few tall guys have that capability as a freshman.

Depends to me whether or not Brown or High are going to have a legitimate role this season. If they don't, I agree but then this roster is extremely unbalanced to the frontcourt. Ideally, Brown or High can provide something and there's a true SF that's added. He won't be a stud, but a SF that has some length and can play inside the 3PT arc, can pass, dribble, and defend a little bit. Jonathan Powell looks like a guy who's allergic to the 2PT area, so he's more of a SG to me. If that's the case, there is a lack of depth at the wing.

He’s 100% not a 3 right now! He doesn’t shoot the ball from 3 very good right now and his handle would be average or below average in college right now! He could probably play some 3 in spot minutes as of now but he doesn’t need to be at the 3 next year for more than a few minutes a game! He is a high energy guy that is athletic! He plays hard, defends, and rebounds the ball very well and is a good lob threat! I think he can grow into a 3 at the next level! I just hope fans aren’t expecting him to be a superstar next year! He’s going to be a good player but his better days are down the road! Stevenson is a better option at the 3 next year and I don’t think he’s a great option to play a lot of minutes on the wing for us this coming year!

Zayden has more position versatilty than most realize, and more than the guys mentioned. Last summer he was flashing a much-improved 3-pt shot and face-up game before all the junk went down.

Yeah, neither would be ideal.

This kid looks great. The question marks are whether he can do this well as a slasher against better competition and whether he can shoot this well from deep if he takes a lot more shots.

Every team has a "weakest" position or player. Last season we were weakest at PF and C, in that order.

We're all pretty sure Henri covers the post weakness, but we are uncertain about when he's on the bench.

If neither Wilson nor Stevenson is going to play SF, then PF looks solid, but SF may be our weak spot.

JPowell looks serviceable. Add in someone like Keonte Jones, above, along with Denis, and we probably have that hole plugged. It might still be our weakest position, but it won't be a disaster.

Still wouldn't mind picking up a backup PG like Samage Teel.

Why not both?

Zayden was the best big in the Summer game at least.
One would think he has been motivated to work on his game and body over these last 9 months.

Not with Cedric Coward committing. UK was a perceived player as well but then Dioubate committed. So it’s prolly down to Oregon or the NBA.
Like a number of top portal guys, Coward is in the draft.

Curious that some in both the draft and also the portal are signing with colleges, while others aren't.

Looking at Michigan, Elliot has himself a trio of good front line players. But the best of them may stay in the draft.

If you sign a player who may stay in the draft, I imagine that makes it harder to get a top commit at the same position.

Of course it may be that guys like Coward are planning to stay in school and just want the NBA workouts and feedback (and maybe hope for lightning to strike).

Here's the early entrant draft list as of a couple of days ago, so it may be the final list. Most of the top players we were talking about before we knew we were broke are on this list.

I would hope that Tanner is all over that list. I would especially focus on the international players who fit our need and might not yet be NBA ready. You might be able to wrap one of those guys up without getting in a recruiting dog fight with schools that have more money to spend right now?

We might be looking international to fill the wing position. We have contacted Italian prospect, Dame Sarr

Kid is from Greenville, NC...won 2 state championships at Farmville Central...played 2 seasons at WSSU, then 1 each at Presbyterian and last year at Indiana State

Tyon Grant-Foster just committed to Georgetown.

I think most of us are hoping for Watkins or Luis to drop out of the draft and pick us.

My question is whether we would take a SF who isn't a likely star?

Keonte Jones is tipped to USC by On3, but hasn't committed yet. I think he'd be a nice addition if we don't land Watkins or Luis. Jones is currently listed as the 8th best guy left on 247, FWIW. 20th by On3, but their list includes seniors who are currently ineligible.

Powell is the shooter we need on the court with our 2 guard at the moment.

Can't have a non shooter at the 3 imo.

As other ACC teams sign players, UNC looks to be sticking with the players that they have. Crickets are chirping🦗.

It's been stated repeatedly that the roster is not finished. Seems like one of the European players we've talked with is the best bet now that Watkins is staying in the draft.

Is it a UNC thing that we have some magical aura at UNC that players can magically play well outside of their natural position ??

From everything I've heard and read and to a smaller degree have seen... This is the opposite. He projects to be a developing offensive player and will be a plus defender on day one.

I also see him as a player who has a skill advantage at the 4. I don't think he has the same advantages at the 3. I guess I'll have to see it to believe he's a 3 at this level and certainly the next one.

I'm seeing lots of announcements for foreign players committing to various teams. Kind of shocked we haven't taken any.

Isaiah Hawthorne may be the best available SF. I never noticed him before but he's on the On3 list. Has good numbers. Not seeing a recent video clip.

6'7 180
TS% = 60.9
3pt% = 37.7
2pt% = 55.7
FT% = 80.8

17.1 ppg
5.5 rpg

2-time All Big Sky

If this is for real, why is he still available?

And if he's available, should we go after him?

Here's a year-old video.
