He looks good. Does he start? Whose minutes does he take?
Of course he starts. He'll be 22 before the season starts, has been playing pro ball for at least 4 years, and just averaged 15 ppg and shot 40% from 3 in one of the toughest leagues in Europe. We desperately need perimeter scoring and shooting, and this guy delivers that.

He doesn't take anyone's minutes. Powell and Jackson are gone. The minutes are up for grabs.

For reference, Tomislav Ivisic played in the same Euro League. He averaged 7 points per game in '23-'24. Then he came to play for the University of Illinois and he averaged 13 ppg in '24-'25.

So it wouldn't be surprising at all to see Luka Bogavac increase his scoring average playing against college kids.

**EDIT**
No sooner did I post this then I saw we got him! Good get staff! Nice work!

Who else is recruiting this dude (notice I didn't say "kid")?

I know we, as a fan base, are typically impatient, but this seems to be taking a lot longer than other Euro players who have already committed. I'm not buying the whole, "It takes time to forge relationships" stuff . The kid that Duke signed did so in about 2 weeks.

RJ Luis went undrafted. Jamir Watkins 43rd overall.

Luis got some pretty bad advice. He'd have made a few million in NIL. Watkins will also probably make less next year than he would in college.
I'm sad for Luis, but not sad for college ball. Perhaps more stories like his will get attention and make the portal-vs-draft equation less messy in the future.

Of course he takes someone's minutes.

Before we got him, someone else now on the squad was getting those minutes.

If Luka is taking minutes from Powell or Young, only @DSouthr is likely to care - being a big Powell supporter. But how about if it's Seth or Jarin losing minutes - or even a starting role?

In the past, the answer to that question from most would have been "trust in Roy." But Roy isn't the coach any more.

So far I have not seen enough to have a definitive feeling of who he will take minutes from. For now I would say the minutes would come from Dixon, Young, and Denis (the guys that I think should be in a battle for that first guard off the bench minutes). The only guys that should take any minutes from Powell are Wilson or Jarin, as you know I want Wilson starting at the 3 and Powell his back up. BTW, may not be worth more than a simple mention but did ya hear about the camp game couple days ago where our leading scores were Wilson for the blue team and Powell for the white, with 16pt each (oh, and Seth, the guy so many are so concerned can't score chipped in 15 ;-)?

Great to hear. Where do you find info like that?

And where are the videos?

I have not seen a video of it, have seen couple different pods that talked about it, I understand IC has a box score of it. The blue team was Wilson and the other freshmen along with a group of alums vs the white team that was all Seth and the portal guys. James Brown nor Luka played. Powell was 3 of 5 from trey (I think is right, going off memory), Veesaar had 11, Jarin had 5, High got 9, Evans had 11. White team won going away, 71-44. The next game BTW is today at 3:30, hopefully someone decides to record it and share.

It usually gets posted this time of year..really hoping someone does! I need something to watch lol

Pick up and camp games are great but what will be the coaching scheme this year? Will it compliment the players or will the coaching inhibit the individual strengths? There appears to be a good mix of talent but how will it be used?
