I like Carolina’s experience over Duke’s tremendously talented Freshman class and this is why in a nutshell:,Black and Manek are seniors and have been in many big wars so their leadership on the big stage in this poster’s eyes Is a MAJOR advantage for UNC.
Mando being a junior has also been in many wars including 4 battles with Williams and n which he has two of his worse games against this season seems to be on a mission and I do not think Williams tremendous defensive presence and Johns hockey mentality will stop him tonight. John is a senior is not much of a offensive threat but he can defend and rebound.
Duke captain Wendell Moore Jr is a junior and his battles against Love should be great to watch.
Jeremy Roach a sophomore now starts instead of Trevor Keels and his addition to the starting lineup has been a major reason that the Blue Devils have been on a roll so R J Davis will have his hands full with him but Roach in the back of his mind will also have to remember that Davis lit him up and his teammates for 30 points in Cameron less than a month ago.
A J Griffin one of the prize freshmen who is projected to be a first round draft choice and the hero in Duke’s win in the Dean Dome will have to face Black again who almost shut Griffin out during Coach K’s swan song and home.
Paolo Banchero another prize freshman and a possible number one draft choice later in the summer will try and wear out Manek in the paint and from the outside but sometimes even being as talented as he is he sometimes forces way too many shots and he is also is not a great free throw shooter. Also he also will have the responsibility of guarding Manek who is the scoring leader so far in the NCAA’s big dance and that will also be interesting to watch.
Finally the Moore vs Love matchup in my mind is the key to this contest. Moore is a junior as Love is just a sophomore more in the last month Love has been playing like a senior as he in prime time have taken over games and if he hits his first shot and stays calm and under control his presence alone can carry the Tar Heels to victory.
Bench advantage goes to Duke with seniors John and Baker along with another first round draftee in Trevor Keels getting most of the sub minutes against Puff, Styles and McKoy but I would not be surprised if Puff is a major factor because he plays hard and you cannot measure heart and determination.
At last many are pointing to Coach K having been to so many finals that his big game experience behind the bench in a tight game will ultimately be the decisive factor against a first year coach but not so fast grasshopper Coach has been to the finals as a player and a coach at UNC so he will not come in to this prime time battle unprepared. 12 years in the NBA battling great players, great teams and great coaches is also something many so called experts have forgot about.
Bottle line the more seasoned Tar Heels will find away to end the Coach K love fest tonight and the experience player factor will be the difference in the battle of the blues…
