Name That Song

On the wings of the night, as the daytime is stirring.
Where the speechless unite, in a silent accord.
Using words you will find are strange.
Mesmerized as they light the flame.
Feel the new wind of change, on the wings of the night.

You've been with the professors and they've all liked your looks.
With great lawyers you have discussed lepers and crooks.
You've been through all of F. Scott Fitzgerald's books.
You're very well-read, it's well-known.

I'm ashamed that I gave up and had to google this one.

I look for absolutes and there's absolutely none
The truth is what you shoot for, not one
Nothing brings it all together, the journey's never done
I'd sing you "Stormy Weather," but it's been sung
So let's have some fun

Well, I guess if no one else is going to answer I'm going to have to take this one. I'm going with Grassroots.

Here is a throw back for you old folks out there.

Keep your foot hard on the pedal. Son, never mind them brakes.
Let it all hang out 'cause we got a run to make.
The boys are thirsty in Atlanta and there's beer in Texarkana.
And we'll bring it back no matter what it takes.

Everybody knows you've been steppin' on my toes
And I'm gettin' pretty tired of it
You keep a steppin' out of line
You're messin' with my mind
If you had any sense you'd quit
'Cause ever since you were a little bitty teeny girl
You said I was the only man in this whole world
Now you better do some thinkin' then you'll find

Mama sells eggs at a grocery store,
My older sister's a first rate whore
Dad says she can't come home anymore,
And he means it.

Ma just sits and keeps her silence
Sister she left because dad got violent
And he knows it.

Mama's old far beyond her time
From choppin tobacco and I've seen her cryin
When blood started flowing from her calloused hands and it hurt me.

His face of death staring down,
Your blood running cold
Injecting cells, dying eyes
Feeding on the screams of
The mutants he's creating
Pathetic harmless victims
Left to die
Rancid Angel of Death
Flying free

Well I was sittin', I was drinkin'
On a bar stool thinkin'
How true love becomes a lie.
And I never should've left you, but I had to,
And I betcha there's a man there with ya tonight.
And I swore to your daddy that I missed you,
But I didn't, and if I came back, it wouldn't be right.

Wild guess...Is it Drinkin' My Baby Goodbye by Charlie Daniels?

That's not a wild guess. It's the first song that pops up if you google the first 2 lines of the verse. Which I did bc y'all are going off the ****ing deep end w these songs.
Well since I didn't google it, it was a wild guess. I happen to like Charlie Daniels but I don't memorize his lyrics
