NFL 2018-19

Just because they are black doesn't necessarily mean they aren't yours.

i don’t believe he’s anything more than a bus driver at this point...his stats the last four years are comparable only to blake bortles.

i can’t believe he’s owed $18.5 million...makes me cringe to think what dak will command.

dak’s situation is odd because they have another year at his minuscule base, but it’s also a year in a revamped system...he might get a playbook that uses his strengths more than him sitting in a pocket...if that’s the case and they get to the nfc title game, he might command +25 million py.

but if you’re dallas, you might want to get him done before goff.

@Heelicious heard an interesting scenarios today for dallas fans...tank lawrence will command +20 mill py based on the top pass rushers...would you rather sign him for that or trade him for a 1st & 2nd rounder this year?...i’ve seen some scout draft grades and they’re like seven edge rushers rated in the top 60 picks, six in top 40.

other scenario is you can afford to sign 3/4 of these guys...who do you want:

tank
amari
zeke
dak

I really am skeptical about giving DLaw $20M per, for X years. Just like about everyone on their D-line, I think he was suspended some games for substance abuse, right? Not saying he'll revert to that, but if you sign like a 4 to 5+ year deal with a lot guaranteed, that is a ton to commit to a guy who has had - granted - two very good years. I know defensive pass rush experts are probably the most valued and hardest to come by, after elite QBs....Cowboys haven't had a great one since Ware.

But gun to my head, if they could get a 1 and a 2 from a top half of the draft team, for Lawrence, I'd take that. If they franchise him again, I could see him holding out or playing with a bad attitude.

Of the four you listed, I think the order they will address them in is:
Tank
Dak
Zeke
Amari.

If I had to pick 3 of the 4 to keep, I'd go
1) Zeke (I know RBs are a commodity, but he is just at an elite level running and pass catching, and smoking people on the second level)
2) Tank
3) Dak
4) Amari

If they somehow could get their hands on the QB at Clemson (Trevor Lawrence??) - he seems to be the real deal franchise type guy. But is he just a sophomore? He seems to have all the skills, talent, and brains to be a big time QB. I'll go on record now to predict he'll be a much better NFL QB than Dak.

@gteeitup what would you do?

i value draft picks and the way dallas has been drafting, they’re likely to hit on a target to absolve the loss of tank, i feel...he’s still in his prime, though, and that substance was actually something he took post back surgery two years ago; weight loss or pain iirc...he’s a stand up dude and he’s great in the community and locker room...still thinking about that one, lol.

2- tank, amari, zeke

so station 105.3 out of dallas reported that kraft’s name isn’t even the most known name to come out of this sting?

lol, who y’all got?

this kraft video ought to be interesting...not the viewing part, just the league and tmz trying to get access to it.

the reports are crazy about the double tug, trafficking girls, and possible non-consensual sex.

so far other names involved are boys and girls club chairman and some wall street tycoon.

Yeah, besides Kraft a couple of old, rich white dudes got busted, but they were not recognizable to most people.

What I don't get is that if you have lots of money, why would you go to one of these places? Why not hire a top shelf "escort"? Unless they thought they would never be recognized by the people that "worked" at a strip-mall massage parlor.

Totally agree, and what I've thought about these sorts of rinky dink maneuvers and amateurs with loads of money still getting caught.

Why not order "room service"? Discreet, with little chance of ever getting caught (I almost typed "being exposed".)

I recall a story a few months ago about how you see fewer pro athletes in bars / clubs night before or after games. In public its too easy for everything to be recorded. Much easier (on your phone even) to just "order in", into their hotel room. But I doubt a guy of Kraft's age is too social media / phone app savvy.

Ya, the reports are pretty ridiculous. Lot of click-bait headlines flying around. Sad that a lot of outlets have insinuated that Kraft was a part of the trafficking, or that anything involved with him was non-consensual, whereas the evidence (at least the stuff that has been released) pretty clearly shows the contrary.

The double tug looks to be factual though. And frankly, who can fault an old widower from looking to relieve a little stress and get cranked a few hours before his team plays in the AFC title game? More power to him.

Some clowns were trying to say the whole Irsay fiasco should be used as a benchmark in determining Kraft's punishment. If paying a consenting woman to give you a little rub and tug is ever in the same ballpark as the pharmaceutical cocktails and distribution shit Irsay was involved in, that'll be a sad day.

Hopefully if the league does suspend him for any games, the team elects to wait until he's reinstated to have their banner raising ceremony so he can be there front and center (and freshly relaxed, of course).

stern did a great bit this morning on it...had the japanese music playing in the background and everything.

but seriously, be more discreet...and drive a volkswagen instead of your bentley ffs.

They need a phone app called "Whoores" in honor of Frank Reynolds.

@gteeitup

FYI - Witt coming back to the Cowboys on a one year deal.

I don't want to get my hopes up too much, but it was a real gut punch when he unexpectedly retired last year. A lot of athletes find it very hard to step away, especially when such a big part of their lives were tied into competing at a high level.

I don't have my hopes too high regarding what he will give them next year, but I think he can be a pretty decent upgrade above the combination of the guys the Cowboys had starting in his place last year. I doubt all their stats combined matched Witten's last year. The Cowboys were 20th in TE catches and scores in the league in 18-19.

Witten is a good "security blanket" type guy for Dak to dump the ball to, and Witten works his butt off to stay in shape and he's a really tough guy to bring down in the open field. Maybe he will be a help in keeping Dak upright too. Dak got sacked second most of all QBs in the league last year.

At $3.5M for one year, I think that is a pretty cap friendly deal, for what they can get out of him. I think the time off will light a fire for him to work hard to get in shape and add to the team next year.

What are your thoughts on the deal, and on Witten in general ?

@Heelicious dude, i don’t like it, at all.

if they were a tight end away from the SB, sure, cmon, homie...the way this went down concerns me because he hadn’t played and according to someone close to the org, “garrett hasn’t seen witten do anything in months.”

he’s like you said, he’s a security blanket for a qb getting a new contract and now for the coach that wants a new contract...hope it ends well and hope he continues to be injury free.

Yah, he's getting up there in age (37), but it is only a one year deal. Nobody they have at that position was that impressive, some showed flashes of being decent. I do think he would've been able to get this sort of deal or better maybe with another team. And maybe this means they don't have to use another draft pick this year on TE, or try to find a bargain TE in free agency.

But I generally don't like the sort of sneaky back room nepotism whiff this sort of deal has to it....I don't trust Garrett much, and if somehow Witten helps Garrett and Dak get obscene (unjustified huge money) deals, I will be against Witten's part in that, too.

It does seem like Witten talked to the Cowboys only - and didn't open up himself to all teams, highest bidder. I don't think its much about the money for Witten. I shudder to think what Jerry Jones and Garrett would've offered and (over)paid for Witten, had he pushed for more.

tyler eifert was being “courted” by jaylen smith the other day...he’s been injured a lot, but that’s what i expected the org to do...get the bargain guy, prove it deal, let the young dudes get more reps.

there are two interesting prospects at that position that would be there probably on day 2 & 3 if you’re into prospecting...personally, i love the scout stuff...sternberger(a&m) and raymond(utah st).
