That's my position. He's proven he can recruit ... so could John Bunting.Next might be great, but my concern isnt year its the next year, and just because it looks good on paper don't mean he can lead it. Remember we started #1 on the cover of Sports Illustrated, only to miss the tournament and decline the NIT.
He can't coach he's proven that all we are doing by giving him another year is setting us back by 3 more years.
I would suggest we have at least 3 starters in Seth, JWash, and Drake all playing and out of their real position and that is even with a 5'11" 2 guard and the kicker is it is not due to injury? There is a lot of freakin out going on about a thing you had to know full well was going to happen before the first game was played this season, why freak out now? It is not as if this is a total surprise, it was the expectation after the portal closed. And the double down kicker is that even as small as this team is, it can still win big time games if we stopped handicapping our selves where we don't need to.DS, good points on JWash. Out of desperation, HD probably thinks he has no choice but to play folks out of position. I guess since he is the coach in a big time position, I have to assume he knows best. I've never coached bball(just played) but played and coached other sports. From my experience, especially playing out of position, there has to be a specific need. Things such as injury, in game adjustments and other specific reasons may require out of position scinarios, primarily in the short term. However taking a player that has intensely trained and played at a high level for years at a specific position and throwing him in a different role is not a plan for success. Yes there are exceptions but you get my point. It's a huge fail on how this team has been constructed and in turn the numerous, resulting failures. It wouldn't surprise me if at a minimal JWash hit the portal. It seems there are team issues, could there be others likely to bail?
Honestly, there should not even be a discussion of should Jack come back or not but we live in Bizarro world for college sports, right is wrong and up is down? Jack really should come back, his game is just not ready but the NBA has hung this huge "potential" sign on him such that he will be drafted in or very near lotto. Even worse is that if he were to elect to come back the NBA would devalue him on the spot, consider him damaged in some way and cost him draft position.Dsouthr I for one would not be too sure that Capt Jack is a one and done because even if he reminds me of Vinnie Johnson know as the microwave who can carry a team on and off the bench his defense is a no show many times on the hardwood and that is the exact reason he spent so much time on the bench in yesterday’s game…It has been mentioned many times during broadcast that Jackson calls Coach Davis EVERY NIGHT to ask him how he can improve his OVERALL game. Coach Davis spent many years in the NBA and he knows how important instant offense is to the success of a team but he also knows if you don’t play defense your career will be in the G league or playing overseas…
