Very quick stuff (UVA game)...

Maybe not but to my understanding rjs money didn’t come from unc. The first year or nil was done right and “earned” from said player. I used the term earned loosely of course. Get A big wasn’t impacted by RJ or bacot or any returning player the last two years from what I gather.
Agreed, zero reason for what RJ got, and earned in my opinion, to prevent giving the worth for a big. The two should not have been mutually exclusive. I think there was a bit of snobbish, hmmmph, we are UNC you should be honored we are offering.

It seems that the reality to pay market price has set in. The cost of big buisness fellas.

Matt Norlander reports UNC is looking to hire a full front office for basketball, and that NIL was subpar last offseason

so was this about a lack of commitment or shortsighted because they thought “the brand” would supersede anything and everything.

whatever the case, the admin believes in hubert so much he got an extension.
There was definitely a naive belief that the UNC brand and the Carolina way could continue to keep us elite in this new era of NIL and constant transfers.

And as Norlander mentioned, our NIL funds were simply not what they needed to be (and not just for basketball.) In my mind, I think our NIL collective needs new leadership.

Hubert Davis contract extended until 2030…

I don't know if the details of the deal are anywhere, but I have to believe this doesn't mean we're locked in with Hub til 2030.

If his coaching and leading this team follows the same unacceptable, garbage, not up to UNC standard, by end of next year at the latest they will buy him out, I hope.

Even when they are winning now against some frankly low major talent level garbage teams...the Heels are so hard to watch. Some guys hustle, but there is a lot of standing around on offense, and nothing really lock-down on defense against good shooting, passing, driving teams.

I saw part of Houston / Tex Tech last night. Either of those teams would beat the Heels on any given night by 30+. Just like Duke.

Quick stuff (FSU game)...

I hear the rest, but that last part is simply not so. We get much better shots overall when EC is running things. That is a fact, and i would refer you to my reply to @gkss right above this one as to the nuance about TOs.

On that note, what is optically glaring is the bad difference when he's out. Hell, I could see that first shot-clock violation (right after EC went out) coming from all the way up I-75, like half-way thru that possession, and we were talking about it in real time, like "oh crap"... and sure enough.

I mean, the loss of continuity with RJ at Point is literally a topic of texts I get from my coach-mafia, as in every game they see it too.

And as for them playing together, we ran relatively little Zone during that closing 11:23, although I certainly like the idea of doing more of that.
Devil's advocate response here. Is a better shot from a worse finisher better than a tougher look from a better bucket maker. That is where the efficiency numbers come in. What looks better to a person, or what is more efficient over the season with numbers often differs.

People have their personal ascetic likes, what they came up on, played, coached, watched, THE way, especially with basketball strategies, but what is actually getting more points per possession, or giving up points per possession?

I am big on the Pete Newell, they all work (offenses), your job is to find what puts the roster in the best position to succeed.
