2025 recruiting....

Sustainabilty is the real question here.

I agree, UNC may whiff big time on the 2025 class, and I am comfortable with that.

It is very hard to imagine colleges being able to pay huge amounts year-in and year out.

I also doubt the NCAA is happy with how NIL has devolved into a “Wild West” free agency… changes are likely.

I also would prefer for UNC to pay (if they must) proven college performers rather than high schoolers.

But it is what it is for now and we have to hope there are good players who are happy with what UNC offers.
Hubert isn't happy. Otherwise he wouldn't have just laid into a bunch of boosters for our NIL issues.

I see people saying changes will come to NIL. But I again ask how? How does the NCAA limit NIL in any way without running afoul of antitrust litigation? I've yet to see a single person make a coherent argument for how this can be done. It's all just pie in the sky wishful thinking of "oh I'm sure they'll fix it eventually." Nothing short of an act of Congress granting the NCAA antitrust protection is going to allow the NCAA to set rules to fix NIL.

See above. You believe people control climate change, but that individual weather can't be? I'm not even gonna ask you to reconcile those two possibilities.
You are much more far gone than I ever thought.

I hope to hell you don't believe the government created hurricane Helene in order to get lithium veins in Western North Carolina. But if you do, that's your business.

that's a good point but I think a better one is that libs invented the concept of man-made hurricanes being directed at certain populations. Many libs were largely convinced that GW Bush created and sicced Hurricane Katrina on the black people living in and around New Orleans, because he hated black people.

Sounds silly, but it isn't that much of an exaggeration.

I just realized, you might not be just stupid. You seem to be completely delusional as well. Again, try therapy.

Preseason Rankings: AP vs Pomeroy

OK, I won't. But since you are a top influencer here, I will offer others one example.

If Pomeroy's ratings are worthless or no good then that will be easy to test. Just do this thought experiment...

1. Create a ratings list of all 364 teams by selecting them at random.
2. Get Pomeroy's ratings.
3. Compare the random list with Pomeroy's list at different points throughout the season.
4. The null hypothesis is that neither will be appreciably better at predicting reality.

I'll bet on Pomeroy. Who's betting Pomeroy is no better than random?
Sorry, but LMAO. That is patentaly absurd (not to mention flunks basic face validity).
Come on, man. If you select teams at random it's literally a coin-flip as to whether ANY alternative selection order will be better or worse, even if it's chosen by a trained chicken.

Moreover, by that logic, every single basketball fan of even the most rudimentary acumen will do better than random because they all know (just for example) that Gonzaga will be better than Elon.

I look at stats --- hell, as a "Dean disciple" I used them when I coached (and probably more than my contemporaries). You can certainly look back and say we need to be better this season at, say, "TO ratio" or the like, but as a fan until this season's games are played, all those "advanced metrics" from the past aren't gonna tell you any more or less than a reasonably aware eye will as to eventual records, any more than any one preseason poll is destined to be any more accurate than another.

I don't know what your obsession with this pomeroy stuff is about, but again hey, enjoy what you enjoy. And so with that said, my advice is to let it go and look forward to Monday.

The whole control the weather thing ranks up there with the moon landings being in some secret movie set for me. But, I do wonder about one aspect of the topic that seems to be an inconsistency. I'm supposed to think that man made efforts could not possibly impact or somehow influence anything in regard to a singular storm, but I am supposed to believe and not ever question that human activity is the singular reason for and has direct impact on the entire alleged change in the overall climate such that human behavior must be modified to an extent that it will forever change life as we know it. Just seems like it would be the other way around.

But it’s not “asking”. It’s a law. Then another law which only exists because the other law was enacted first. Hence the “knee jerk” Bottom line I feel it’s the parents call. Do you agree with that?

Of course it’s the parents’ call. But as you can see from the link I provided, there are many Dems who don’t think it should be the parents’ call. Therefore a law stating it’s the parents’ call seems reasonable whereas one that states otherwise is completely absurd. No?
