• Carolina entered the game averaging 10.1 turnovers per game. The Tar Heels committed 17 turnovers, their most since committing 18 against Alabama in November 2022.
• RJ Davis led Carolina with 27 points. Davis has led Carolina in scoring in each of the last six games, becoming the first player to lead Carolina in scoring in six consecutive games since Justin Jackson in 2016-17.
• Davis made his first eight free throws, which extended his streak to 41 in a row, which tied the all-time UNC record (he missed his ninth attempt which ended the streak at 41). Jeff Lebo made 41 in a row in 1989.

• Davis also made 39 in row from late in the 2021-22 season to early the following season. He has two of the five longest streaks in Carolina history.

• Davis has scored 160 points in the past six games, which is the most by a Tar Heel in a six-game stretch since Tyler Hansbrough had 25, 29, 32, 23, 23, 39 for 171 total in February 2008.
• Davis scored 20 or more points for the sixth straight game, becoming the first Tar Heel to score 20 or more points in six straight games since Garrison Brooks scored over 20 points in seven straight games in 2019-20.

Next Game: Wednesday, December 20, Jumpman Invitational vs. Oklahoma, 9 p.m., Spectrum Center, Charlotte, N.C.

Other "blue blood" Saturday games

Kansas/Indiana was hard fought. Very lively crowd, but Kansas remained calm and mounted the comeback. Neither team shot the 3 ball much at all (Indiana really struggles there all year). Neither team used their bench much at all (Even with McCullar picking up his 4th with 8 minutes left, Self stuck with his core). A grind it out type game, but a good, entertaining contest.

Ohio St./UCLA is plain UGLY. A rock fight.

KY v UNC Pregame

So what about the KY v UNC match up? I have yet to see a ky game but by looking at the stats I see a couple of things that jump out. Seems like ky has a balanced scoring team with some big guards that shoot a really good % from both 2 & 3 and use a rotation of 8 players and it doesn't look like they have a big that plays a lot of minutes that could cause Mando problems but height doesn't mean length. Looks like they like to run and score a lot of ppg. By stats it doesn't look like they are defensively impressive.

Quick thoughts .. seems their big guards and very respectable 2 & 3pt shooting should be a concern considering our continuing problems with closing out on the 3 pt. shooters. Will their guard size cause us problems on both ends of the floor. Will Ryan be a stud or a dud again? Could Seth be a difference with his quickness both O&D and maybe more importantly can Ingram continue to find those creases and cracks that he so efficiently managed to exploit v UConn.

What do guys see being the difference between a W or L in this one? GO HEELS !!

UNC Highlight Video

You Tube Quote from Owner of Site:
"This is a raw collection of dunks from games during the 1994/95 and 1997/98 seasons. The clips were copied from one old VHS player to another VHS player, which took hours of watching, rewinding, etc. before being converted into an MP4. Some games deteriorated over time and were unable to be used in this highlight reel but I tried to grab as many as I could to showcase just how athletic and entertaining these Tar Heel teams were. A few plays are a bit shaky but overall I am pleased with how the final product turned out. The 94-95 and 97-98 teams provided college basketball with 2 of the most exciting teams in college basketball history, in my opinion. Hope you enjoy it. (*Sheed's first 3 dunks were from his freshman season and Carter's first 2 dunks were from his freshman season as well)".

Bad day for UNC

The new interim Chancellor was named. He's a Dukie, and he has no professional administrative experience in higher education. A purely political appointment from the gerrymandered General Assembly who controls the Board of Governors and Board of Trustees. He was last seen running the State's economy into the ground alongside Pat McCrory. The expectation is the interim tag will be removed shortly.

After running off two great Chancellors in Folt and Guskiewicz, the politicians who have spent decades trying to ruin UNC have finally got one of their cronies into the Chancellor seat. Aside from the obvious awful impact on education, the expectation is this will really screw UNC over in conference realignment. The NCGA intends to hold UNC hostage in order to "force" the SEC/B1G to offer NC State a spot too. And now they have taken the steps to ensure they will be able to do that.

NCAA proposes new college athletics subdivision rooted in direct athlete compensation

Posted Dec 5, 2023
Members of the new college athletics subdivision, proposed by NCAA President Charlie Baker, will be permitted to strike name, image, and likeness (NIL) deals with their own athletes — a significant move away from the current NIL structure. The most impactful benefit of this new model will allow schools to directly compensate athletes through a trust fund. (Yahoo! Sports)
