Basketball Arena rumor

The rumor on the internets (channeling George Bush Jr)...the next Basketball Arena will be on the North Campus.

I always thought that would be the location for a new arena, since the Master Plan left no room for Dean Dome 2 on campus.

We can have parking garages near the new arena. The campus is slowly going to expand to that site which has more land than the main campus.

Mack Brown back in Texas and at peace after the Hall of Fame coach’s North Carolina departure

Mack Brown back in Texas and at peace after the Hall of Fame coach’s North Carolina departure

Mack Brown is back to living in Austin, Texas, during the winter and through the spring, and plans to spend the summer at the family’s home in the North Carolina mountains. He is certainly at peace nearly three months after coaching his final game for the Tar Heels. "I’m not sure what I’m going to do. I may do some TV, I’ll probably do some podcasts." Future schedules

One reason for our terrible record is our crazy OOC schedule playing a handful of Top 10/25 teams. I believe Hubert admitted the schedule was plain stupid.

If we are stuck in the freaking Oh State, UCLA and UK "CBS" tournament every year, then get some creampuffs at home on the schedule early on to build depth and confidence for the team. Maybe get out of that stupid contract for starters.

Maybe play a home-away with a OOC blue blood program each year, but that is it. We get dook 2-3 times a year so we don't need to go find rivalry games.

How about doing a 4 team tournament in G-boro and Charlotte in rotating years vs in-state schools like UNCA, App State, Elon, UNCC, WCU, ECU, NC A&T, etc. Help the little NC schools while feasting on them in front of Tar Heels further west in the state. We get 2 easy wins to help the team get ready for the ACC and later ncaaT.

Don't give me the RPI/NET crap, a 20+ win UNC team is never being left out of the ncaaT. Now losing to Big 10, SEC and Big East schools in a tough schedule will keep us home during March madness like this year.

Hubert deflects GM role Q this morning

UNC Basketball Coach Hubert Davis was asked on the weekly ACC Coaches’ Call this morning about what he recently said about adding a GM role for the program. His response is below:

“Yeah, I’m going to stay away from those comments in regards to a GM. I feel like over the last couple of weeks, or two-and-a-half weeks, in response to my answer to a question on a radio show, it’s been twisted in regards to supporting different narratives. And my focus right now is this team and coaching this team and trying to reach our full potential and trying to become the best that we can become this season.”
