Let's track Carolina's NET this weekend (Update: 3-17, 12:05 PM)

While the ACC would have been better off with Syracuse and Clemson winning tonight, one thing to keep an eye on is the possibility that UNC can add Q1 wins outside of winning Friday or Saturday.

NC State was 79 entering today, and beating Syracuse by a comfortable margin could push the Pack into the top 75 of the Net, and if State doesn't get blasted by Duke on Thursday, it could remain a top 75 team, and therefore a Q1 win forUNC. Right now, it's a Q2 win.

Also, BC entered the day at 91, but a convincing win over Clemson should bump Eagles some, and if they beat UVA tomorrow, that ould really push them toward 75. Now, they probably need to get to the ACC finals to get into the top 75, but it's something to keep an eye on.

BTW, Oklahoma enterd the day No. 42 and lost to TCU. I doubt to Sooners will fall below 50, so UNC will probably keep that Q1 win. But man, the Sooners sure have fallen off from earlier.

As we go to bed tonight, the NCAA projected seedings according to

Joe Lunardi. I hope it doesn't change tonight, because I am posting this at midnight. Jerry Palm and Mike DeCourcy don't update until tomorrow morning if I am not mistaken.

South - Houston (3), Marquette (8), Illinois (10), Kentucky (16)

ESPN on Spring questions for each Top 25 pre-season team

If the ACC is going to survive as a Major conference, albeit one with much less TV money than Bob and SEC, it must improve its football quality. This article shows the work to be done. The current ACC has #15 FSU, #18 NCSU, #19 Clemson, #21 Louisville, and #24 Miami. 5 in Top 25 is not bad, but no Top 10 is bad.

The Big 12 has #10 Utah, #11 Arizona, #17 Ok St, #20 K-St, #22 KU.

That is not hugely better than the ACC, but it is better. And while FSU almost certainly is soon to be out of the ACC, none of the ranked Big 12 schools will be leaving anytime soon. So the disparity easily can get worse.

Carolina vs N C State game thread for n Saturday 16 March 2024

Great to see two teams from North Carolina battling for the Championship crown in the ACC tournament.

The Cinderella NC State story has been great to see as all of the Keatts haters who have wanted him fired for some reason have been quiet during this Wolfpack run.

Bottom line this game will probably come down to the play in the middle between Burns and Middlebrooks versus Bacot and Washington. Which ever team gets the other man in the middle for the other team in foul trouble will be the major factor.

Like last night I strongly believe Trimble’s defense on the State’s guards will also factor in the final outcome.

Neither Ryan nor Ingram did much scoring last night and I fully expect them to change that around tonight.

This will be the Wolfpack’s 5th game in five days but these young men actually that young
