Not so quick stuff (Charleston Southern)

RJ Davis finally getting the spotlight as being our best Heel. Man was that offense humming under his leadership at the point. 10 assists. No turnovers. 5 steals. Holy moly!

Unc finally puts someone away handedly. Oh, and Davis has 8 games in a row with 20 plus points including 7 in a row vs top echelon programs with 23+.

All-American.

And Washington can really knock down them open 3s. He is shooting at an amazing clip from out there this season.

UNC Basketball Legend Walter Davis Added As A Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Nominee

Former UNC Basketball player Walter Davis has been added as a nominee to the ballot for the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2024. Davis, who passed away on November 2nd at the age of 69, is a first-time nominee. Davis played under legendary UNC Basketball coach Dean Smith from 1973-1977 while averaging 15.7 points per game. Bacot Needs to be Taking Advantage of R. J.'s Great Play

Last year, designing a defense against Carolina was easy. It was called collapsing at least 2 players on Bacot (and sometimes three!) because no other player at UNC could take advantage of it and hit the wide open three. But this year, teams can't do that. As a team, we are hitting our three's much better (now that Ryan is back in the groove). But they really have to respect Davis and how he is playing. If they double team Bacot, and he can find a wide open Davis (or Ryan, or Ingram, or even now, Washington), they lose. But strangely, Bacot's scoring numbers are down. He keeps missing the chip shots under the basket. Instead of going up for the dunk, he plays below the basket, often leading to a block. If Bacot can strengthen his game under the basket, and Davis keeps up his red hot scoring game, we become really hard to defend, and to beat.

College Football Bowl Games

Some have stated that these bowl games are meaningless with so many player opting out. Have to agree to a certain degree, after watching so many lopsided scores the past several days. Today is am embarrassment for Florida State in the Orange Bowl, losing 42 to 3 at halftime. What's sad is that most people do not even remember that 20 players opted out of playing in this game for Florida State, all they remember is the final score. We are so acutely aware that losing is a reflection on not only the players but the school for which they play for. JMHO !!!

Intentional Grounding and The Spike

When a player is inside the tackle box and throws to an area where there is no reasonable receiver, it's intentional grounding, and the ball is spotted at the point of the pass; the same as if the player was sacked (with the exception of the clock).

It seems the only penalty involved is the risk of throwing the ball to a defender, but beyond that, if you have the wherewithal to get rid of it safely (a spike), two good things can happen: 1) maybe the defense gets called for a late hit and/or 2) it's ruled an incomplete pass, (so you don't lose the yardage and you stop the clock). I'm kind of surprised we don't see the intentional ground used more liberally by scrambling quarterbacks.

That said, how in the world is the QB spike to stop the clock not intentional grounding? The QB is within the tackle box, and there isn't an eligible receiver between the QB and the Center. Seems like an inconsistent application of the grounding concept.
