Mack's & My weight loss: What about yours?

I am hoping to create a fun, informative, and helpful thread here about weight loss, using Mack and myself as positive examples.

As some of you know, I started changling my lifestyle several years ago and have successfully dropped around 125 pounds. I say around because I only get weighed a couple of times a year. More on that later. Mack Brown has lost between 35-40 pounds this offseason, which I wrote about in June and then Jacob & AJ did a Daily Drop about it last week.

What I'd like to do here is open this for discussion with you guys, notably those who have done this, are in the process of doing it, or hope to do it. Losing weight isn't easy, and it can be really lonely, as usually we do it as individuals and not in associated groups. So maybe we can become that here in this thread.

I don't venture to OOTB very often, but I'd like to more and more, and see this topic as something that is important to me personally, and it's important if it can fuel success for others.

So, I am here for questions about how I have done this and maintained it over time, about how Mack has done it. And any of you who want to share your success stories, please do. If you are struggling with it or have trouble getting started, let's make this a comfortable place where you can interact with others who understand the experience and can help.

I also think this will be fun. One of the true appreciations I have had in life is taking control of this part of my life. It has totally been on me but about much more, as I'll explain later in thi thread.

We can help keep each other accountable if you want, post meals, exercise regimens, etc.

This is important to me that we build a community in which we can help each other, inspire, motivate, educate, and do so having some fun with it.

And don't be shy, if I can open up about it, you guys can, too.

University Community Rallies Around SMU’s ACC Invitation
Sep 18

DALLAS (SMU) – In just seven days, SMU has raised $100 million to support the Mustangs' transition to the Atlantic Coast Conference, University officials announced today.

"This is an unprecedented financial commitment from a core group of donors who have understood from the beginning that moving to the ACC will be transformational for our University on both athletic and academic levels," said SMU President R. Gerald Turner. "While there is still much work to be done, the ability to rally this kind of support in just one short week demonstrates that SMU and Dallas recognize the excellence of this opportunity and are stepping up to support it."

And a bit below, there is this: "Notably, the move has immediately raised SMU's profile, with media coverage of the move generating more than $163 million in advertising value in the first three days. In that same small window, SMU also experienced a 103% increase in visitors to its undergraduate admissions homepage."

Surprises

#1 - Desmond Evans - He has looked considerably more active this year and the production is following!
#2 - Beau Atkinson - BEAU!!! I feel like we will be saying that a LOT over next couple of years! I always feel like he is going to make a play when he is on the field. I get super excited seeing him set the edge and forcing the running back to inside pursuit! He seems to have great overall instincts.
#3 - McCollum - Head and shoulders above any other WR that we have out there right now. The kid can ball! Imagine if Wal........never mind!!!

Do you have guys have any surprises through the first 3 games??

Defense

How do you think we'll fare defensively this coming season? How about other ACC teams?

Below are Pomeroy's national defensive ankings (AdjD) for the last 5 seasons. Lower is better.

Nate McCollum showed up but where are the rest of the wide receivers at?

A APB must go out to Paysour, Blackwell, Jones and Greene and probably all of the tight ends as well to help McCollum this weekend because the Pittsburgh defensive coordinator will definitely have a game plan to slow the Georgia Tech transfer down.

Maybe it is the offensive coordinator’s faults that all of the other receivers were not trusted enough to have passes sent their way or maybe none of the receivers could find open spots against Minnesota’s linebackers and secondary but whatever the case other receivers have to be used and they must contribute.

Why the tight ends and backs out of the backfield are not used more is just so baffling to me. It is almost like Carolina has forgotten or just refuse to use screen passes anymore…

Someone much smarter than me please answer the questions of who else can help the passing game, why the tight ends and backs are not used and finally what happened to screen passes?

UNC staff making the rounds to September open gyms (9/19: Jackson Keith)

They were in Atlanta to see Caleb Wilson today, and will be back again next week according to his father. They will also be in Utah at Wasatch Academy Tuesday to see Isiah Harwell. Nothing is set in stone yet, but don't be surprised if he reciprocates again at some time with a visit. They are going to be at Myers Park tomorrow as well to see Sadiq White he tells me. He added that he will visit UNC "whenever they would like for me to come up."
