OT: Could Use Some Good Vibes

Long post:

Here we are again, friends. As many of you know, 2 years ago I was training to come back and use my remaining college eligibility and join the UNC team at the ripe old age of 37. That plan was sidetracked on October 27th, 2021 when (while hooping), I ruptured my left achilles tendon.

After what seemed like an eternity of recovery then a very slow rehab process, I was as good as new. Although my achilles was healed sooner, I finally got past the mental block to get back in the regular game I attended pre-injury in February (just 2 months ago and 16 months removed from my injury).

After several slow weeks trying to get my game back and playing absolutely awful, tonight I got it back. Playing games to 18, the first game ended with a W and me scoring about 10 of our points, including the game-winning 3. Winners hold court. Second game, repeat of the first one. Only we were down 16-11 and came back to win on another game-winning 3 by yours truly.

We lost game 3 when we should have won. I sit 1 game. Next game back in I’m still cooking. God it felt great to be back and finally playing like my old self!

Until it happened. With the ball, I got past my defender and a second defender rotated over to help. I hit him with a hezi and pushed off to go to the basket. Except I didn’t go to the basket. I went to the ground. Same pop. Same immediate reaction of looking to see who kicked me. Different leg.

In 2021 it was my left side. This time it’s my right. Still haven’t been officially diagnosed because it just happened tonight and I’ll go back to my Dr. first thing in the morning to confirm. But I know all the signs. Maybe not fully ruptured like last time but definitely some separation. I fear it’s another full rupture.

As such, if my fears are confirmed, it’s likely I’ll officially have to retire from the game and my second comeback attempt to take one of the remaining UNC scholarships for next season will come to an end.

The process last time was pretty rough. Imagining having to go thru it again when I literally felt like my old self tonight for the first time is just brutal.

Anyways, could use some good vibes if you guys could just keep me in mind.

These aren't just funny names, they're 3rd and 5th round draftees in the nfl who happened to part of a unit that gave up almost every sack possible - 3rd worst in fbs per game sacks, ahead of liberty and Akron.

How bad was Jordan Tucker and the mash unit playing center?

Ps, per media Tucker seemed to a cool and good dude, those things are obviously more important than sportsing.

I love this concept because the model has been proven over and over and might have the highest success rate of any concept in the franchise industry.

I have around 90 employees in just one of my businesses, so no employees is a beautiful thing! The big negative is it's a big brick and mortar footprint which means high start-up costs and at least 12 months to get open due to lease negotiations and build-out.

Great news is the commercial real estate opportunities are increasing by the day right now and this business is one that Amazon/IT can never replace!

1. No Employees!!! Who doesn’t love that!!!???
2. Semi-absentee ownership model, but really more absentee than semi-absentee. This means 10-20 hours a week is necessary and keeping your day job is possible.
3. Brick and Mortar – big footprint of 4k-6k sq ft... which also means...
4. Higher start-up costs (500k-1MM)
5. Totally revamping their industry as professionals that work there make more money and become business owners rather than employees Day 1 – if they have a customer base.
6. Health, beauty, fitness type industry... not going to get specific there as it would give it away

Thanks for playing!

Who Do You Want On the Floor at the End of Close Games?

Obviously there are a lot of variables, but one is FT%. With all the new faces, I thought I'll look that up.

First thought: Some of these guys really need to work on their free throw shooting. Hard.

Second thought: I didn't realize Ingram was so bad. It's rare for someone that bad from the strip to be a good 3pt shooter. My hope that he might be a better 3pt shooter with us may be wishful thinking. He was better as a freshman, but still not great.

Last year, we could load the floor with decent-to-great FT shooters. Leaky was the "worst" at 70.2%.
