Republicans (the party and the voters) need to STOP fixating on gay marriage and abortion as key issues. Stop. It's wrecking the party and fracturing it. It leads to woefully bad candidates like Mike Huckabee getting some votes in early primaries.
If abortion and gay marriage offends your Christian/moral beliefs, the way to handle this is to NOT get an abortion and NOT to enter into a same-sex marriage and to persuade all your friends and loved ones to also not do those things.
But please don't let it be the most important thing you look for in a candidate.

They don't see it and when someone tries to "act" (or react) as they do, they cannot stand it. They cannot see that they are doing the VERY thing they hate about the other side. Sometimes I just do it on here for kicks because I know I am being extreme just as they are and I want to see just how hypocritical they can be.
Personally, I would NEVER want to put a wall around anyone or anything. I would not want to hush up those who disagree with me either. Freedom is being able to do things freely without having to conform to another's belief. We are all free to believe as we want to and do as we want, providing we are not harming others.
We are free to marry who we want to and who we choose to love. A book written by many MEN, thousands of years ago does not dictate HOW we are to love. It just says we ARE TO love each other. They tend to get all that mixed up. They pick out certain things, mostly sexual things, and try to rip people apart over it, when they do the very things that the book says not to do to begin with, divorce, adultery, lust, etc. I suppose pointing out another's "sins" will make one think they are better off because they're sins are less than or something. It's a crazy belief.
When we live in a country founded on freedom of choices and freedom of what we believe, some may not believe the same as another group of people but if it is not causing you personal harm, they can do as they please.
It has been a long time (probably over 10 years) since I've had it so maybe I'm wrong on Modelo.
I don't disagree but if that is the case you should dislike Republicans as well. I can't stand the ones on either side who act this way. However, I get along just fine with the ones who don't. Neither side can figure out how to disagree in a way that is productive at all so we have become more divided.

I really don't give a damn what 2 consenting adults do in or out of the bedroom. Get an abortion before 12 weeks. But women, people of color or the LGTB don't deserve anymore rights than anyone else. My daughter said it best last night talking about women not getting equal pay. She "I wonder if these idiots ever considered maybe they are not as qualified as the other person."
I agree with a lot of that. But that's not how the left generally sees things. The left doesn't want me just to be ok with their social policies. They want me to emphatically celebrate them. And when we fail to do so, we're bad people. That's what I'm talking about and even pundits on the left have acknowledged that they've done this. So don't act like the left is following the right because that's simply not true....at all.
Our last president started this division. You remember his statement, "Time for the republicans to go to the back of the bus"? His vilification of police officers before he knew the facts? He started the fire and fanned the flames.
I don't "like" Republicans. I trust them more but I don't necessarily like anyone in politics. But I also disagree that the right goes into character assassination when debating issues. Or at least, it hasn't become page 1 of their playbook like it has with the left. No way.

100% accurate. In every 50/50 situation, he choose to go against "white", or against "traditional" or against "authority". And every time, he empowered many others to do the same. He didn't even try to dress it up either.
