Just looked it up... It has been there since 1950 and in 2009 they signed a 25 year contract extension until 2035!!!
I would think itโs because of the money the city of Omaha put into the new stadium and how many Triple A teams whose stadium holds 20,000+ are going to be willing to be on a 2 week road trip every June??
I will never again doubt the NCAAโs stupidity after I witnessed a football game in a hurricane while Chapel Hill was under a flood warning.
You'd be surprised what tournament directors will do, at pretty much any level. And this is the NCAA we're talking about...
I finished a game at like 1:30 am one time when I was playing travel ball. We were like 14, so we thought it was awesome. The parents that had to drive two hours home were not as enthusiastic.
ETA: at that age the games are only 7 innings. I think we started at like 11:30
