2017 Atlanta Braves Thread (w/ occasional Red Sox talk for Hark)

Don't do this yet, lol

But yeah, I've been disappointed big time. The fanbase completely abandoned ship when the playoffs streak stopped and is still recovering. A lot of folks aren't paying enough attention to know we're laying the foundation to be good. They just think "the Braves still suck." Plus, you know, Atlanta sports fans.

I was going to go to a game tonight but everyone is busy. I'll poast some pics later tonight I took from Sunday's game.
Just one more poast to "defend" the Braves [even though it is pathetic]. I'm sure you get this up in Charlotte too, it is borderline crazy how much Falcons talk dominates the airwaves on the two Atlanta sports talk stations. I listen almost exclusively to a station called 680 The Fan here, and they talk a decent amount of Braves because they carry Braves games....but they talk a ton of Falcons and Georgia Bulldogs football. The other station, 92.9, isn't as popular but still gets a lot of listeners, and they ONLY talk Falcons. Like, they only mention the Braves in passing. They try to be more national and talk about Falcons, all NFL, and Georgia football.

So between the Braves fanbase kinda abandoning ship since the late 2000s and the incessant growth and dominance of the NFL (especially in a very, very black city like Atlanta... I'm just sayin'), the poor STP attendance is disappointing but not too surprising right now. Oh, and 85 not being usable lol.

One more thing. For stupid, idiotic political reasons that I don't feel like getting into, Atlanta's one main paper -- which is on an N&O level of a POS and is called the Atlanta Journal-Constitution -- has been ragging on SunTrust Park for the past 2+ years... basically ever since they broke ground on it. The AJC has ran story after story about how traffic will be terrible, how it's terrible the Braves have moved from "actual Atlanta," tear-jerker pieces about how ghetto ass folks in the poor neighborhoods near Turner Field can no longer make money by charging people to park in their driveway, etc etc etc.

So retards who actually read that paper, if they take it at their word, may be avoiding the park cuz they think it will be a traffic nightmare. Guess what? It isn't. It's WAY easier to access than Turner. Night and day difference. Also... there's a lot of hipster f****ts in Atlanta who are bitching and saying no one should go because it's not really "in Atlanta."

If/When Ozzie Albies plays in Atlanta this year, I wonder if Brandon Phillips would be open to trying out third at this stage of his career. I kind of doubt it, but if he really wants to be in Atlanta and wants to stay, that would be a pretty good way to do it.

Yeah, the AJC is awful. Everyone who covers the Braves just seems like miserable people to be around. They really have some horse's asses writing crap on there.

I like it. Can we do it now so that we can get rid of Adonis?

WTF Julio?
Welp **** this then
People get on to Folty for losing his cool once things start going South.... but IMO, Julio does the exact same thing. He's been trash ever since the first Harper homer. It's clearly in his head.

I feel bad for Julio though. Underpaid, gets no run support in general, and should be a #2 or even a really good #3 on a staff somewhere, learning from a stud #1. He has no dominant veteran pitcher on this staff to look up to. Colon doesn't really count because he's a completely different style and he just got here.

Chip is dead on with what he just said. There's tremendous wind that gets kicked all throughout that park. It really has a coastal feel to it because of the wind.

The problem is tailgating. The tailgating scene is horrible. If they could fix that people would be climbing over the walls to get in.

I'm one Bruins loss away from changing gears to baseball season (regardless of what the Celtics do, cuz the NBA blows) - so I'm sure I'll be participating in this thread more soon enough.

TV doesn't do this beauty justice:
