How many times have you been to St. Louis?Matt Adams received one of the best 'welcome back & we do appreciate your time here' ovations Friday night . . 'Big City' was and still is very much loved in St. Louis.
Say whatever you want, a lot of MLBers will tell you that the fans in Saint Louis are some of the finest baseball fans around.
GO BRAVES
GO CARDS
All you're missing is frustration. Also, sorry @coolwaterunc -- since my masters program started, I've barely had time to watch the Braves. I catch bits and pieces on the radio.
Makes less than zero sense why Acuña is still in Gwinnett. All you're missing is frustration.
Yep. I have a TON of respect for Markakis, but he really doesn't offer us anything. He's a .270 singles hitter with league average defense. Bring him up and see how he does.Makes less than zero sense why Acuña is still in Gwinnett.
I don't get in to all the advanced metrics, but the next-level stats say that Markakis is toward the bottom of the league in defense. I don't necessarily "see" that when I watch him play because he generally makes all the catches he attempts. But apparently, his limited foot speed prevents him from getting to a lot of balls that other outfielders would/should get to.Yep. Yep, which concerns me in the offseason. Everyone says we're probably going to deal him to free up a spot for Acuna, but how many teams want an outfielder who's a singles hitter and hits .270 with average-to-poor defense?I don't get in to all the advanced metrics, but the next-level stats say that Markakis is toward the bottom of the league in defense. @toophly1124 @carolinablue34 - how bout Raphael Devers? Might have been part of the reason the Sox were willing to give up Moncada in the Sale deal, cuz they knew they had him waiting in the wings.

That's the problem, in general, that kept us from making any deadline deals. We don't have any desirable pieces whatsoever except for the ones who are must-keeps like Freeman, Folty, and Ender.Yep, which concerns me in the offseason. You just called Folty a "must-keep." There's hope in you yet. I'm proud of how far you've come. That's the problem, in general, that kept us from making any deadline deals. We don't have any desirable pieces whatsoever except for the ones who are must-keeps like Freeman, Folty, and Ender.
He's a must-keep, but he's no ace. He's an excellent #3 on a World Series' team's rotation.You just called Folty a "must-keep." There's hope in you yet. I'm proud of how far you've come.
You're making progress. Last year, he was bullpen guy. This year, he's a an excellent #3 on a World Series team. You'll get there. He's a must-keep, but he's no ace. He's an excellent #3 on a World Series' team's rotation.

I read something about we can't call him up without altering the 40-man roster or some crap. IDGAF, make it happen.Ronald Acuna in the minors so far:
.321 AVG
20 HR
70 RBI
37 SB
He is pretty much laughing at his minor league competition. This kid is a major leaguer.
Agreed. To hell with the 40-man roster, put him on there. There has to be someone worthless on there to cut ties with in order to make room for him (Adonis Garcia). I think it's best to get a good look at him now, similar to what they're doing with Albies. Get him some big league experience now when the games don't really matter much, and maybe that will take some pressure off of him compared to if he starts next season off with the club with no MLB experience.I read something about we can't call him up without altering the 40-man roster or some crap. I'm glad Sims got his first win today.
I was going to just let this thread die, but I'm not. As soon as I start talking up Folty for pitching well the entire year, he went through the worst stretch of his career, and now his ERA is almost at 5. I don't know what this team's future is anymore. I just don't. Our best pitcher is a 60-year-old knuckleballer, our anchor, Julio Teheran, has an ERA over 5, and every single rookie pitcher we've brought up has either royally sucked (Wisler, Blair) or is decent and rough around the edges, but by no means ready to really do anything (Newcomb, Sims). No impact players in sight. WTF are we going to do? This team doesn't look near ready to compete anymore. I'm starting to think it will be over a decade until we're good.
Yeah we're definitely floundering at the moment. As I've stated repeatedly on here, we won half the battle by getting young, but those young prospects aren't turning into elite players, which is the other half of the battle.I was going to just let this thread die, but I'm not. Bush league.
This could be the best thing to happen to the Sox in years if it leads to the firing of Farrell.
He's a bullpen guy for sure, at least IMO. I'm just not that impressed with him. I like how he comes in and goes after guys though, which is why I think he's a fit in the bullpen.@coolwaterunc I'm not so sure Sims is bullpen-bound. I think his future is very much in flux, which makes him an exciting prospect.
Let's be honest.... at the rate all of our hyped pitching prospects are crashing and burning, Sims might become our damn ace lol. He's a bullpen guy for sure, at least IMO. lol Wouldn't surprise me. Hell, I know Coppy's plan was to turn some of these guys into currency, but if these guys keep coming up to the majors and failing miserably, who the hell is going to want them?Let's be honest.... at the rate all of our hyped pitching prospects are crashing and burning, Sims might become our damn ace lol.
Fried is (hopefully) a lot better. We should have gotten a lot more than what we did for Simmons. That was my biggest gripe at the time of the trade.E.G. Newcomb is rapidly becoming not good.

Seriously? I thought Sox fans liked Farrell.
Nah, most of the fanbase wanted his ass fired last year. Now it's pretty close to the entire fanbase.
