2018 Atlanta Braves thread

They didn't have clear and convincing evidence that Camargo touched the plate before the tag. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA OMG I'm completely losing my shit. There has to be a conspiracy to protect umpires' reputation. Has to be. There is no other explanation for such lunacy. Un-GD-****ing-believable.

I'm taking a week off from the Braves after tonight. I can't. I was cussing so often after that failed-to-be-overturned review (that I told my dad BEFORE the review that they wouldn't overturn) that he threatened to kick me out of the house. And that's without a drop of alcohol in my system.

And my feelings about Vizzy have been made VERY clear so I won't repeat myself. I told my dad as soon as Acuña hit the homer that Vizzy will blow the save.

Also GO THE FUKK BACK TO CHICAGO. IF YOU LIKED THE CUBS SO MUCH, YOU SHOULD'N'T HAVE FUKKING MOVED YOU DUMB MIDWESTERN FAGGITS.

Okay, i'm good.

He's dancing around it and using the typical "that's the way it is" approach. Let them have it, Snit. That's bullshit.
Yeah he said nothing. I respect Francouer saying "you know he's pissed" but damn.... bump that. GET PISSED!!! What's it gonna harm? So you get fined. Your players will love you for it and MLB will be forced to address it. It's not going to get addressed tonight. People will forget it by tomorrow.

I love the MLB Network. Love it. I think they do an incredible job. But they showed the highlights 10 minutes ago and didn't even mention it. And they won't. Can't offend the precious umpires.

Although, in his presser, Snitker did make it pretty clear that the job is no longer solely Vizzy's.

This is the type of game that will send a young surprising team into a tailspin if they let this linger. The team better be ready to bring it tomorrow.
Yep it sure is. To be fair to the team, we said the same thing about the Wrigley debacle but they came out and won 2 of their next 3 after that.

I will say that I'm glad we don't see the Cubs anymore after this series. I despise Joe Maddon and the way he manages and they always play us tough.

Also..... to be brutally fair, we can't complain about the blown save. Vizzy and Minter have both danced around should-have-been blown saves way too many times. 100% we deserved the blown save tonight after he gave up that double to Almora.

Yeah, but this is different. I think everyone just kinda brushed that one off and called it a fluke because the playing conditions were so horrible. This time, we got screwed and should have won, and everyone knows it. If we get punched in the mouth tomorrow, I'm very concerned.

Also, that's why I'm disappointed Snit didn't go off and let MLB have it during his presser. Get it off everyone's chest and get it out there, and I think it would help the team move on from it.

I think so too. I kinda get that you don't wanna turn your team into a bunch of whiners, but I think it was such an egregious thing that you gotta just freak out and make a spectacle of it, and THEN move on the next day.

He better sure as fukk be on the top step of the dugout all night tomorrow and lose his sh*t at the first bad call.

@TarHeelNation11

Anyway, I'm going to try to get past this and get back to Folty since MLB's incompetence rudely interrupted me. I don't think his future is in Atlanta, really. I think AA is going to use his big arm, stuff and potential as a selling point to include him a deal for someone to help us immediately. I'm still a big believer in him, but from a business standpoint, I can't disagree with it. There's certainly a good chance it may never click with him, and there's a rebuilding team out there who would love to have Folty's big arm and potential and are willing to take a chance on him and see if it clicks.

It's not that Folty has done a bad job here, I don't believe that at all. It's just that, the way he is right now, he's not a fit for what we need. We need someone in this rotation that can be a stopper and consistently eat innings for us. Folty isn't horrible (usually) when he's in the game, but his inability to stay in the game is killing our bullpen. I think Folty can become what I just described what we need, but since we're in winning mode now, I'm not sure if the Braves are going to be willing to wait on him much longer to become that. Newcomb has shown that he can, Soroka has as well (mostly because of his general makeup - nothing phases him), but Folty has not, and with his electric stuff and more experience than the rest of our young pitchers, it makes Folty a prime candidate to be dealt. It makes sense for us.

This thread is very amusing to me. It's basically 20+ pages of posts that go something like this:

@TarHeelNation11 : The Braves are doing better than I thought they would. I'm loving this team so far.
@coolwaterunc : Yeah, I'm excited about where we are as a team.

@TarHeelNation11 : This team sucks. Can't do anything right and I hate MLB.
@coolwaterunc : The team is terrible and the MLB is garbage. They should just close down the whole league.

@Hark_The_Sound_2010 : I'm an idiot when it comes to baseball.
Everyone reading this thread: You already told us you were a Boston fan.

Me and my Braves guys here at work are still complaining about that call. And I agree that if any call goes against us tonight that Snit needs to lose his freakin mind! As for Folty, I am also starting to doubt his mental makeup. You are gonna have close pitches called balls and you just have to learn to move on to the next pitch but he seems to not be able to do that. And I'm also tired of us setting up outside corner and him missing a foot and half inside! 98-100mph is no good if you can't control it and it seems like he absolutey refuses to take a little off when he needs to find his groove again. He's just very frustrating for me to watch!

Kinda makes me wish we had more legitimate baseball fans haha.

So basically, what you're saying is it's the OOTB Carolina Basketball Thread (during basketball season) with fewer participants and @Hark_The_Sound_2010 and @carolinablue34 sharing the role of @tw3301.

I actually like that Snit went right back to Viz in the 9th tonight, despite what I think of him, to help his confidence. Like it or not, he's a big part of our bullpen and we need him, no matter what his role is.

We also need a third baseman......
Badly. None of our 3.5 third basemen (Bautista, Flaherty, Camargo, Culberson) can hit worth a lick.

Ozzie Albies is the most exciting player in baseball.
If he's not the starting 2B for the NL at the ASG, something is seriously ***ing wrong with baseball.

Ditto, but you and I only like it because he went in there when we had a 3-run lead. I think that was the only way Snitker was gonna send him back out tonight. He may have sent him out with a 2-run lead, but I doubt even Snit is that dumb. I think the 3-run 8th gave him the perfect situation to insert Viz.

Also, hats off to McCarthy and the bullpen tonight. They pitched out of trouble all night. Really good stuff. I absolutely would not have brought in Minter with 1 on and 0 out in the 8th, but it worked out. It's like Minter needs one batter to get going and then he gets locked in. He still scares me though. He struggles mightily with control. Carle and Winkler are the only ones I feel calm with when they're out there.

I'm glad we took the game tonight because tomorrow is a tall, tall task. Lester is a beast. I'm not expecting much. But even if we lose, I consider the Wrigley game part of this series, and there's nothing wrong with splitting a 4-game series with the Cubs, especially when you were legit robbed of one of those 4 games and dodged a bullet in the 9th inning in the 1st game. If we win tomorrow, it's just gravy IMHO. Soroka has not exactly drawn favorable starters to go against since his promotion to the bigs lol.
