New information considered allows for a brand new decision to be made (Zig Ziegler)...
There was a LOT of hype surrounding Cadeau and we UNC fans ran with it, it didn't seem to matter that the hype was way to far over the top, I admit, I bought in to way to much of it myself. Now that is not to throw shade at Cadeau, he is an amazing talent and I am very happy he is a Tar Heel but we annointed him as the next in line of great PGs for UNC, surely would only play 1 season of college ball, before heading off to the NBA to dominate there. Yeah but then reality set in and what we discovered is a wonderful young talent that needs to be developped, means the kid is mortal and is OK around kryptonite! LOL
Reality is that Cadeau is a small PG that struggles to jump shoot and has a good bit of maturatiopn that has to occur, both as a player and as a young man. He got a serving of humble pie last season and it may have been the best thing that could have ever happened for his career. I think jump shooting may always be a struggle for the kid, I do think he will shoot better but I don't see him shooting like Joel Berry for example, that is OK, he doesn't have to. He can hone his shooting in enough that he can't be left wide open, I do expect him to be better in that aspect next season. He does need to STOP talking to the refs, has to understand, the refs NEVER change a call when you argue with them but they sure can pay you back for doing so and they did several times last season.
Cadeau is ALWAYS going to be considered small by NBA PG standards and I am not sure he will ever jump shoot like you expect from a NBA guard, is this really a bad thing for UNC fans? Bacot didn't fit the NBA model for a center, we had him at UNC for 5yrs, RJ doesn't fit it either, we have him for his 5th season coming up, many of our great players stayed with us longer than expected because they fell just short of the NBA metrics so we got to keep some of our better talents around for multiple seasons. Can you imagine a senior season at UNC for Cadeau, after what we saw last season from a reclassed freshman, imagine the seasoned senior version!
Will he be with us after next season, heck I don't know, I will have to see him play next season to even offer a educated guess on that but my gut says I expect him back after next season. The kid just is not going to take a magic pill and grow to 6'4" next week.
