Great ideas and these are exactly the sort of ideas that the NIL was meant to lead to…. If people buy a “Cadeau” shirt then Elliot should benefit from the sale.I will say this, I have seen several outside the box creative ideas that other schools do to bolster their collective. Carolina seems invisible and I never hear about those type of initiatives.
Why isn’t there a team store at the arena where 10-20% of all sales goes to the players?
What about a small increase on ticket face value that goes to the players? Tennessee did something like this.
Maybe a small charge to tour the museum with all proceeds going to the players?
I could list several other things I’ve seen other schools do, but footing the NIL budget doesn’t have to fall solely on a handful of large boosters. It just takes leadership and organization from the right people to make sure the collective is equipped to get and retain talent.
I’m sure he’s not happy…. Losing recruits due to a screwed up system must suck.Hubert isn't happy. Otherwise he wouldn't have just laid into a bunch of boosters for our NIL issues.
I see people saying changes will come to NIL. But I again ask how? How does the NCAA limit NIL in any way without running afoul of antitrust litigation? I've yet to see a single person make a coherent argument for how this can be done. It's all just pie in the sky wishful thinking of "oh I'm sure they'll fix it eventually." Nothing short of an act of Congress granting the NCAA antitrust protection is going to allow the NCAA to set rules to fix NIL.
Well, it looks like you’ve found a job for yourself! Hit the phones and get out there drumming up donations!Only 967 followers for UNC's official NIL. Seems like engaging the millions of UNC fans across the world should be a priority.

That's TJ Beisner's job. He is paid to lead our NIL.Well, it looks like you’ve found a job for yourself! Hit the phones and get out there drumming up donations!
Just curious is there someone out there better than TJ we could hire going forward or would it matter ...That's TJ Beisner's job. He is paid to lead our NIL.
I would argue we couldn't hire much worse. We don't have the money to get the recruits Hubert wants, and there's been basically no effort to sustain engagement from the UNC fans across the world. Every aspect of our NIL failures falls at Beisner's feet.Just curious is there someone out there better than TJ we could hire going forward or would it matter ...
ThanksTJ was supposedly killing it at UK when we poached him
That's not true at all. TJ Beisner was being run out of Lexington when we tossed him a lifeline. He was one of many staff members on the chopping block as the Calipari era was crashing down. Thanks
If he was run out of UK .. I think the same needs to happen at UNCThat's not true at all. TJ Beisner was being run out of Lexington when we tossed him a lifeline. He was one of many staff members on the chopping block as the Calipari era was crashing down.
Kentucky is now doing far, far better with NIL since Beisner left.
The proof is in the pudding. While Hubert Davis is telling his donors we don't have enough NIL money to compete, Kentucky is in the process of buying 4 recruits that Hubert offered in 2025.
There were several uk fans complaining about their NIL when he was there. I was pretty shocked to see him hired by Carolina given the state of uk’s NIL at the time.If he was run out of UK .. I think the same needs to happen at UNC
I think you are assuming that there are that many unc fans that care enough about paying players to keep up with the crap show. I’m torn, on one hand I’m done with sports in general because no one is worth millions to play a sport , much less in college. All my opinions of course. Bigger fish to fry and a whole lot of more important things in this world than sports, even UNC sports. On the other, it’s hard to see UNC struggle to keep up with everyone paying. Still a passion but it’s lost its luster for sure. Honestly it sucks to even type these words but true for me nonetheless.I would argue we couldn't hire much worse. There are countless UNC fans out there and tons of creative ways to engage those fans. There's no reason UNC's NIL collective shouldn't be at the forefront when it comes to engaging the fans.I think you are assuming that there are that many unc fans that care enough about paying players to keep up with the crap show. Ahh, there was an age when people volunteered to raise funds for a cause because they thought the cause worthy enough….That's TJ Beisner's job. He is paid to lead our NIL.

Maybe I’m just old fashioned, or maybe not enough people believe it’s worthwhile to donate millions of dollars to pay for unproven mercenaries who’ll unlikely ever attain a degree.
And even if there are enough like minded people, how often can you keep tapping them if the results don’t come?

If that’s your take on my comment then we’ll leave it at that.Good point. Better to just keep paying a guy a couple hundred thousand dollars a year to do an awful job leading our NIL, and make absolutely no effort to engage the countless UNC fans.
It's not like UNC fans would ever want to buy signed jerseys of current or former players, or go to meet and greets, or attend a practice, or attend a dinner with the team, or attend a fantasy camp... no we should definitely not raise NIL money by offering opportunities like these.
We should definitely just adopt the policy of "I'm too old to change" and make absolutely no effort.
Amen Oz!If that’s your take on my comment then we’ll leave it at that.
I just hope you devote as much time to doing good and making positive change as you do to obsessing over something you can’t do anything about.
With all the complaining he does re: our lack of NIL support, he should be signing over his paycheck every week to the cause. Of course he wants the big money alumni to ante up so he can continue to live vicariously through UNC sports. Most fans don’t have the inclination nor the financial ability to pay the kids more money than most fans wil ever see in a lifetime. All just to play a game.If that’s your take on my comment then we’ll leave it at that.

Your last sentence is a realization that I’ve came to grips with Arch. With all the complaining he does re: our lack of NIL support, he should be signing over his paycheck every week to the cause. This is exactly what I was in favor of! I think it is obvious that an American should be able to earn money based on their own hard work, name, image, etc. There was nothing in the run up to this new age that let peeps know it would devolve into direct payment for play! Once again, the NCAA and idiotic lawmakers with no understanding of college sports have made a bad situation worse! Once the system is regulated and they decide whether the players are employees or athletes repping the U, the system can be repaired! Fix this system and the stupid transfer rules right now if you have any teeth NCAA!Agree 100%.
NIL was put in place to reward college athletes for the profile they accumulated whilst playing at college, not to create bidding wars for entitled, unproven high schoolers.
So you're just going to keep ignoring the fact that Hubert Davis just criticized a bunch of UNC's biggest donors for not giving him the NIL funds he needs to get the recruits he wants? There is an equitable path and I am ecstatic that UNC refuses to dive into the muck for short term gratification! Keep working to do the right thing Hubs and UNC AND real fans will keep supporting you for it!
He is not the Head Man of Old Well Management that is Kevin Rice…That's TJ Beisner's job. He is paid to lead our NIL.
Bub, I FULLY support NIL as it was initially intended, schools were not supposed to be involved at all in NIL, recall Hubert initially did not talk about NIL with recruits, the school didn't. NIL was not supposed to be about paying a kid to play for your preferred school. It was supposed to be about endorsement deals, like Bacot had with Jimmy's Seafood. After all, that is what started this whole NIL deal, Obannon's likeness in his UCLA jersey on the cover of a video game and Obannon got nothing for it. We then saw the birth of NIL agents, the guys that negotiated for a fee those NIL deals. Then all the sudden, out of the blue a couple of programs began to publicly make pay to play offers and nothing was done to stop it. Every program had no choice but to hop on board the pay to play schemes while the NCAA sat on their hands, cashing their pay checks, while doing absolutely nothing. And now kids don't even visit you unless you are in the NIL ball park of what they feel their services are worth with absolutely ZERO governor? And people wonder why a young guy like Bennet would want to step away from this sh!tshow. Go back to freshmen being ineligible. See if someone wants to pay a stud hs player millions on the chance he comes back after one year. Let the 5 stars go overseas or G league.
I hardly recognize the game I grew up loving., NIL and the portal have just made it NBA-lite.
Seems it’s all about NIL.I'm hopeful this thread won't turn into a debate/underpant soiling session about NIL, but who knows!
I looks like Hubert has 9 offers out for the '25 class.... 4 x PF, 2 x SG, 1 x SF, 1 x CG and 1 x PG.
So it looks like he's in the market for a high level Big, but no centre yet... wings are always needed but I'd like to see some action on the PG front - thinking EC may only be on board for another season.
I know very little about the players and would love to hear people's thoughts
