IF... you want to consider what RH mentioned (one national title), then Izzo, Cal, and Boeheim would fit that bill. I know it could still mean that Roy or K are affected as well. But I’m sure the Teflon rat will escape the trap, and I just don’t think our recruiting lately is any indication that Roy is in trouble.
From that Yahoo Sports link RH offered, it sounded like coaches, plural. It also sounded like anyone who is a fan of CBB is in for a shock. It will greatly affect the sport entirely.
It also sounds like whoever goes down won't have to worry about razzing from rival fan bases.

I'm normally with you man, but I just don't see how we've violated anything the past decade or so in terms of recruiting. You don't see OADs rushing to us exactly.
It doesn't have to be just the OAD's...

Well, for all I know, it could be kids that UNC tried to recruit.
I wouldn't be surprised if all the blue-bloods go down. Duke, KU, UK, UNC, Syracuse, AZ, you name it. This won't be one of those situations where one or two get popped and everyone else sits-back and points and says "Haha!" This is going to splash onto a lot of schools. It could rewrite the books!
Then again, UNC might slip by because of the NCAA scrutiny. Maybe we are spared because we've been under the watch for so long. I really don't know. As I stated THR, I find it very hard to believe that some of these Duke recruits are meeting academic/scholastic requirements. I knew kids growing up who were fvckin' geniuses, and valedictorians, and they didn't get in. But, you're telling me a kid like Brandon Ingram makes it? Some of those kids can barely string sentences together.
And, why stop at basketball? Football should have an even bigger target, I would think. It would have a bigger pay-off, too.
Who on our staff would do anything like this? I could suspect a booster possibly. Again, with what we have faced I can't see us doing something shady. Even if we skirt by, this could ruin the image of college basketball for many. But, on a side note, it could get rid of the current system and go back to the roots of what made it great

Let's say it comes out that duke and k are involved. Sure, all of us would be pretty giddy about that at first. But would it do irreparable damage to the rivalry? How many of you would let duke off the hook if we could go back in time and erase the academic scandal from our past?
My thought on the scandal has, and will be, that EVERY school is doing it...we just got caught because McCants is a douche.
My two very close family members play D1 basketball and they said their top players don't do shit for class.
If it comes out they paid players and we didn't, I will never ever ever let them hear the end of it.
But you realize that if and when all this breaks, fans of schools that are cited will say the same thing - "all athletic programs are paying players". They'll have no proof of that just like we have no proof of all schools allowing athletes to take easy/fake/no-show classes.
I'm pretty sure most schools allow easy/fake/no-show classes for students.
Not for me. The rivalry with duke goes beyond any players that might have been paid.
I definitely wouldn't let them off. I just couldn't do that as a fan. But I would stick to the facts of the case instead of speculating or ignoring them.

We can do this all day Bent. I'm not saying you're wrong. I too think it's more likely that a large number of schools offer easy classes to athletes than those that are paying players. I'm just saying that we used that excuse. Duke will be primed to use it as well. And without proof either way, we're both just pissing in the wind.
Is anyone else bothered by the fact that the FBI is all over this meaningless college basketball scandal yet they have a bead on a potential madman shooting up a high school and they are caught sitting on their hands?
I know. My point is if there are any easy classes on a campus then an athlete has just as much right to take them as anyone else.

Heres one way we could get screwed, for example....one dirty agent in the investigation is the miller guy. Among his clients...brice johnson. Miller’s bank records are in fbi posession. (THIS IS PURELY HYPOTHETICAL!!!!) If he paid brice or his family anything before allowed to then brice is ruled ineligible. Unc or coach williams didnt know a thing yet unc takes down a banner.

I read on THR that Brice is a client of his firm but Miller doesn't personally represent Brice. Not sure if that matters.
Why would we take down a banner? Brice wasn't on the championship team.
Since Roy typically avoids kids with “handlers”, that should at least be a good sign that he’s attempted to steer clear of this stuff. Certainly, that doesn’t mean UNC hasn’t had some kids that took cash from 3rd parties.
And, you know what? I'd say **** that shit, too. "Vacate all wins" my ass. Some token gesture erases history... pffft. We were at some of those games. They definitely happened!
I think it's more about that we've lost nearly 50 OAD's in the past 4 seasons.
Proof is in the pudding or lackthereof. We haven't landed any of these blue chips.
My concern is not whether or not UNC was involved. My concern is what will be left of college basketball when it's over? If Duke loses a few banners AND we lose one, too... big deal. But, if there's nothing left to enjoy, going forward, who cares about banners? The tent will fold and cease to tour.
I think theres gonna be a massive re-boot and cbb as we know it will cease to exist. No shoe companies and no oad’s means less nba talent and less dunks and less sponsors. Coaches who develop talent will once again flourish. But the product will be diminished.
