Honestly though, I want to hear what you guys have to say about Roy's lack of timeouts during big runs and late game situations, weird subsitution patterns and game management (guarding 3 ball mostly).
This isn't to troll him, I'm just curious what you guys think his defense is (besides I've always done this) and how long do we just wait and watch the same shit over and over besides a change is needed?

The only complaint I have about Friday night is that Roy had Joel on the floor with 3 fouls up 12.
in our 3 games, dook averaged 29 free throws. they averaged 14 free throws in all other games.

To be sure, he can be frustrating at times with some of the decisions he makes but I absolutely, unequivocally want NO ONE else but Roy to be our coach until he is ready to step down.
I know. I didn't watch a second of the Dook / ND game last night, but how many fouls were called on ND? and how many times did Dook go to the line? About a third of the times that Dook did against us. I'm not buying that ND is that much better of a defending team, or that Dook attacked them that much differently.
i watched the entire game. it's a COMPLETELY different type of officiating when dook plays us ...so obvious. and i'm not basing this off of ONE non-UNC dook game ...i've watched dook at least 15 times this year, 5 times in person. it's bizarre how quick the whistles are in the UNC game. i'll just leave it at that.
dook was 8/12 last night. ND was 9/12.
Why doesn't someone call out k and the Devils and all this one sided officiating. K called out Dean years ago. It's time someone called him out.
they/he are the "face" of college basketball - no one in power is going to rock that boat.
You can attribute a few of those to our stupidness, but they probably get 10-12 extra attempts versus us just on their ability to fool the refs with their flops and head whips, etc.

And notice who we were fouling. The guys who move well with the ball - Kennard (10-10), Tatum (7-7), Jackson (5-6). In other words, their guys were putting themselves in a position to be fouled more than our guys were.
Am I the only one who thinks Frank Jackson is starting to look a lot like Berry? Didn't see that earlier in the year, but do now. Tough-nosed, good handle, can burn you from deep or take it to the rim. I keep hearing announcers saying Duke doesn't have a point guard, but Jackson looks pretty good to me.

Duke should essentially be a higher seed then UNC? When you were 5th in the conference and have the most top 50 losses out of the top 1 and 2 seed candidates? Ok
1) He has and Dean also would rather have his timeouts at the end of the game(last 5 minutes) if needed so he's willing to let his experienced players try to figure things out by themselves on the court(which they work on at practice) and try to stop the other teams runs.
2) On substitution patters, he doesn't mind playing lots of players and sometimes tinkers with the lineup to see how some guys perform together... Other times he is just pissed at one of his players for doing something on the court and isn't afraid to pull his "star" for doing something that UNC doesn't stand for... This leads to wired lineups at times but usually doesn't happen during the NCAA Tourney.
3)His game management and X's and O's can be questioned at times but when someone has done things the same way you get used to it.... He would rather double a driver going for a layup and challenge a guy to shoot a 3 pointer... Yes 3>2 but you can still win games with his philosophy.
4)For me I will watch this "same old shit" for as long as Roy WANTS to be the coach at UNC!!!!
I'll take two or three losses to dook, the regular season title and a 1 or 2 NCAAT seed every single year.
Not saying it is going to happen, but I could make a case for both UNC and Duke being awarded a #1 seed. UNC won the regular season by 2 games losing only 4 conference games in what is widely thought of as the toughest most competitive conference. Their complete record shows they deserve a number 1. Duke on the other hand won the widely accepted toughest conference tournament and has played the best ball around the country in the past week. Yes, they have more losses than some of the other teams in the picture but again, they play in the toughest conference. So, don't shoot the messenger but rather look at that argument that the ACC deserves 2 number 1s. I could also make the case that ND and Louisville should be #2s as well (and that's not even mentioning Florida State - the second seed in the best conference in the nation.) I doubt the selection committee comes close to those choices as the rest of the country would be up in arms. But darn it, the ACC is so far above any other conference it is hard for me to see a team like Gonzaga or even for that matter UCLA having anywhere near the records of the 4 teams I mentioned above if they played in our league. Just one man's opinion.
I think that's pretty spot on. For those that argue that dook deserves the 1 seed over Carolina because of similar resumes, how do you discount the Heels winning the ACC by 2 full games and holding a 3 game lead over dook? You can't reward the hot team over the team that consistently(ish) brought it throughout the entire season.
You can't ignore the unbalanced schedule. I believe UNC is one of the 4 best teams, and will probably get a 1 seed. They have enough legit arguments for that spot, but leave the ACC regular season part out. It really holds no water unless everybody plays the exact same games.
Then why even weight conference (or conference tournament) results altogether? Just base the selection on RPI and/or SOS. Oh wait, that's not the spirit of the tournament. You end up with a top heavy tournament that doesn't include the mid-majors.

Don't get me wrong I'm not stomping my feet screaming Duke deserves a definitive 1, I'm happy to be in that convo, and happy we did enough to make that committee consider us, but I just think when comparing the two you need to dig deeper then just regular season results. If it were me I'd put us both at the 1 line.

And I wouldn't argue with that. I don't think it is one or the other, both teams COULD be on the 1 line and it wouldn't surprise me. They both have the resume. The question is who would you bump off of the 1 line? The easy answer is Gonzaga but they have (I think) 5 or 6 wins against the RPI top 50. That's all fine and dandy, except 3 of those came against St. Mary's.

That slope is awfully slippery though. Duke won 6 road/neutral games against Top 25 opponents, UNC won zero.
Neutral isn't the same as "road". As far as I can remember, the only "neutral" court games this year for the Heels were UK for the CBS Classic (which may have been the best game of the season) and the Maui Invitational (which Carolina ran rough shod over),
I just informed your fanbase that the reality of the situation is that UNC can't defend Duke without fouling. You can live in your own alternate reality if you so choose. Also, you might want to check the strength of those road records. Most of UNC's road wins were against the bkttom half of the league. Most of your tough games were at home.
