always entertaining

For those of you who do not know, Auburn boosters have a very long history of doing illegal things as well as acting to undercut their current HC. Bobby Petrino played his part in an earlier soap opera - Auburn boosters loved Petrino and found nice guy Tommy Tuberville too much much of a dull church-going ninny to tolerate him at all once his 5 game winning streak against Bama ended.

Malzahn was the OC of Auburn's National Champ, he's won the SEC and taken the Tigers to the National Championship Game, and he has 2 wins over Saban as HC - no other current SEC coach can claim even the latter.

If you have accomplished all that while the Invincible Saban has been at Bama, then you are quite an accomplished coach.

But Auburn boosters have a long history of being as crazy as they are crooked. And they want Malzahn gone. Perhaps they think Belichick wants the job. Now, they may assume that Urban Meyer is ready roll onto the Plains to save them from Saban and his evil protege Smart.

The fight now has moved to new OC. Malzahn has been having OC troubles the past 3 years or so, probably because he is too hands on. That may mean he should go Mike Leach and young Mark Richt and be his own OC. But now, Malzahn wants to hire Hugh Freeze as OC. Freeze as HC also has beaten Saban twice, which you'd think would please Auburn fans to no end. But they so want Malzahn booted that they refuse to allow Freeze, or any other OC candidate, to be offered more than a 1 year contract.

My suggestion for Gus is to offer the OC job on a yearly contract to Fedora. The buyout means Fedora can risk a 1 year deal, and surely at least part of what Auburn pays him is taken out of what UNC owes him.

That's a win win.
