Bacot back...

And so it begins! Hopefully, we will consider it a positive eventually! Once they work out the kinks in this system peeps will settle down and we will see some really great bball!

Can't wait to see Bacot Wrapped Scallops on the menu!

Less set plays. Roy definitely likes to run, but when we were not running our PG is leading a set play.

Todays game is turning position less, 6'6 PGs are normal. 7 footers shooting threes are normal. It makes me even madder that Kessler is gone because his versatility was probarly not going to shine under Roy, but Hubert MAYBE could have shown that off.

Caleb is a combo guard all day, so he needs more freestyle to shine. It would be nice if Leaky would be consistant and you could have Leaky, RJ, and love making things happen.

Hope i answered that.
FYI, the volume of set plays Roy ran was inversely proportional to the competence of and confidence in his PG to pilot Freelance.

No disagreement on the stat, but still not backing down on the pressure Roy's successful style had on the PG position.

Oh, I'm not disagreeing with that point.

In fact, the pressure on PGs is the very reason Roy had to resort to inordinate volumes of work-arounds for those who weren't up to the task. That's smart coaching, albeit making up for deficits in the roster at any given time.

That said, it's also the reason that the legit PGs (like JB, Ray, et al) who didn't need the work-arounds were necessary ingredients to get to the promised land. And, no matter how much some fans wanted it to be otherwise, without those few special guys, we had no chance, and all the set plays on the planet weren't gonna be enough at the end of the day.

Then it would be a legit question to ask why you put that kind of pressure on a freshman PG? It is a bit like giving a 5th grader a math test that is usually given to seniors, some may be able to pass it but the majority will struggle. You simply have to adjust to your personnel, you just can not expect or demand your freshman to know as much and play like a senior. That was a flaw in Roy, when he was learning to coach freshman most times became a seniors, that star freshman stayed for all or most of 4yrs. That has not been the case for a few years now so things do have to adjust to that fact.
