Bracketology with Joe Lunardi

I can already bet we get Kansas in a bracket if we're not both the same numbered seed come March..Hell, they'd have more than likely done it last year had both of us not been #1 seeds. NCAA seems to love this matchup for us so much.
I don't normally like to play Kansas......but I welcome that matchup this year if it comes.

Like how the ACC is predicted to get 10 teams in. I wish Villanova were on the other side of the bracket though, not that I don't want the Heels to play them, but so that the Heels can exact some revenge in the title game, as opposed to the Final Four.

From the regions thus far, and is surely going to change, the west is easier than the east/south, both seem to have games in G'boro...hey play down the rest of the way and go west, just kidding.
Heels, Nova, KU and Ariz to the final four.
I've seen Zags a couple of times and Ariz also, I think we could beat those two teams...best to catch KU on one of those off nights.

USA Today bracket....I'll take #2 in East

Should have been playing our regional in G'boro...we know who to thank for that major screw up.

IMO, Unless we secure a 1 Seed, there's zero chance we don't get matched up with KU or Nova in our bracket. The bracket makers love giving us rematches.

What is the date of the early look from the official NCAA bracket again?

2/13.....next Monday

If the Heels win the ACC regular season and ACC Tourney they will get a # 1 seed.

I would hope the reg season would get us a #1, wading through the ACC Tourney is tough after a full season, but we would get a by in the ACC

Complete joke. UNC should be #1 easily over Gonzaga, Baylor and Kansas. UNC is conference leader in the best conference. ACC is by far the best conference. It is so hillarious how football and basketball are treated differently.

It is farcical. The ACC is easily the best conference. There are several conferences with strong teams at the top. But the bottom half of the ACC is considerably stronger than the bottom halves of other conferences. Therein lies the biggest difference.

Duke will find a way to get in the Gonzaga Region... Reminds me when Kentucky was placed up against Wichita State a few years ago.

This is nothing but speculation & is nothing close to what the actual brackets will look like, never is. I'm not sure why people get so worked up at this stage of the game, lots more bball to be played anyway.

Oh, I agree. But even at this point, to even insinuate that the leader of the toughest conference in the country wouldn't be a #1 seed undermines the credibility of the whole premise. That's all we're saying. There are 20-4 records and then there are teams playing in the ACC with 20-4 records. Apples and freakin' oranges.

We have already played the 20th toughest schedule according to Lunardi and we have the following games left:

dook away
NVSU away
UVA home
Louisville home
Pitt away
UVA away
dook home

Tough finishing stretch to say the least.

With ND included, our final stretch is the toughest schedule in the nation.

May I add that I too have been saying for weeks that if we win the ACC + ACCT we get a #1 seed. My only change is that I now don't believe we have to win the ACCT! Getting to the champ game should be enough considering the gauntlet we have left and what it would take to win the regular season! (and considering how often the top 10 turns over this year)

If we win the regular season and make the ACCT finals, I think that should suffice to garner a #1 seed. But the regular season title is anything but a given at this point, the ACC is so tough and we have a very tough finishing stretch. How tough is the ACC? Tough enough that we will probably see at least one team make the NCAAT with a .500 record in the conference. Don't think you'll see that in any other conference.

I sure am glad it's a home game.

One of these days we are going to have to beat a good team on the road. We haven't done that since Maui. But I'm just as glad we aren't starting with Louisville.

We'll learn a lot about this team from each of our last games. Even Pitt - because it's an away game and we only beat them by 2 at home.

UVa is scary. Sure, we thumped them on our court, but Bennett will learn from that. And that will be our 2nd away game in a row with only a day in-between.

And then Duke. Very glad that one is one our home court, too.
