Yeah... until UNC can assemble a defense, it's not really going to matter. UNC always has terrible defense.
May be time to get new assistants.

I just know that the defense is horrible. UNC's defense is always horrible. The offense doesn't look much better, aside from the rushing game.
Sam Howell looked 100 times better last season.
Defense needs to get their playmakers back on the field from injury. Bunch of talent coming next year. This program won 2 games 2 years ago, takes time to build. Sam is pressing, not hard to see. All the hype after last year is getting in his head. Lotta season left to play loose and be himself.
They're just not that good. This season is a throwaway, anyway. It's never going to be considered a "legitimate season" no matter what happens.

How do you come tot he conclusion that they're "starting to get respect?"
This whole season, for the entire NCAA, is a goof. It's not a legit season.
Mack Brown is well past his prime. He can still recruit, I guess. That's fine, I suppose. But, he can't take the program as far as he would have 25 years ago. His assistants don't seem to know WTF they're doing, either.
Be happy with 7-8 win seasons.
Take the reins off Howell and let him throw the pigskin 30 or more times in the second so the outside receivers and the tight ends can feel like they are part of the offense.
