Celebrity Death Pool - Round 11

I think they musta deducted their portion. My acct shows i sent $10.

Yeah it says it deducted a $.51 fee. I don't know why because I don't know PayPal. It's all good though lol.

So with PayPal you have the option to either "Pay for goods and services" or "Pay friends and family". If you choose the former, you end up paying the fee (or well, the payee pays the fee) - no fee with the latter. There are plenty of businesses that flow their payments through PayPal, so for those, PayPal takes its cut - that must have been what HMW did.

They do keep an eye on the "Pay friends and family" payments to make sure you're not abusing the system, and having a business that is having everyone pay them via the friends/family route. I'm involved in a fairly large March Madness pool up here every year (finished 2nd this year - which was a 4 figure payout... if the result of the title game was different I would have won the thing). The guy running the pool caught some crap from PayPal last year for receiving so many $50 PayPal payments that they threatened to take a fee from that anyways. This year his master plan was to have everyone write in the memo section "Boston Marathon Pledge" to act as if he was getting all these payments as fundraising for running the Boston Marathon for a cause... not sure if they caught on to that or not.

All I can think about while reading the second paragraph of your post:

hey just saw this. how much do i owe you and where do i send it

Yeah, about that. You already know who I am but everybody else is getting mailed cash. You want Paypal, you'll need to be at the football meetup so I can make sure you ain't some freaky mofo.
As it stands now, there's more chance of me banging Scarlett Jo than the OOTB Football Meetup (TM) happening.

I wanna do it, but have commitment issues . Not sure when I'll be able to get off work, and when I'll have other crap going on. I can almost 100% guarantee that I'll be at some home game this fall (and could do a meet up at that one) but just not sure which one that will be yet. I'm still holding out hope that maybe the UGA tickets will drop in price and I'll go to that one ($250 minimum on Stubhub right now!?!?) - and I'll probably be at the @Miami one as well.

Uhmmm what does Miami offer that Chapel Hill doesn't?!?!?! Lol.

And it's all good. I understand you have more difficulty getting to a home game than most do. If you do it make it to Chapel Hill for a game, though, RH and myself and @grillheel and @heelz2345 are at every home game. However, there's a good chance I'm giving my Citadel tickets to a friend of the family who's a big Carolina fan. But besides that one, I'll be at them all, barring some unforeseen craziness.

Alright, I've had enough of the derailing of this thread. Let's get back to the real reason for this thread. To follow a person and get paid when that person dies. Continuing to do something that is going to send us all to hell is more important than being able to say that you just figured out that another OOTB poster is ugly as hell because you've seen them in person.

You know, I always feel guilty about liking a post in this thread. It’s already bad enough that we are making money off of death. Do we really need to make jokes about it and then pass out some likes? I think we should, but I’m already going to hell for other reasons, so it doesn’t really matter to me.

Ya, I came to the realization a long time ago that I was hell-bound. At this point I figure I might as well at least get my money's worth.

Depressing thread is depressing.

RIP Pat Summit.
Damn. My last few days have been extremely busy so I'm just now hearing about this.

When I was working for a public accounting firm in Knoxville circa 2005, Pat Summit came and spoke at a company event. I'll never forget it. She had the kind of presence that commanded the entire room. She was compelling, insightful, and humorous at the same time. It was easy to see how she connected with people and got the most out of her players. She was a very special person and I'm glad to say I had the pleasure of making her acquaintance. RIP.

Does pecker head pride count? They have gone 2 days without a new UNC Cheat Scandal thread. The posters are celebrities in their own miniscule minds.;)

@gunslingerdick did you ever mail that check? I've yet to see it. Just wanted to post a reminder. Hopefully you just forgot to mail it because otherwise there's a check of yours floating out in the universe.

Did you ever receive that? It wasn't a check. Straight cash, Homie. I wrote a little note on the bill for you so I'll be disappointed if it never made it.
