Coronavirus

It's statements like this that are pissing everyone off. Look, if I don't want to get the vaccine, I won't. And I don't need an excuse. The notion that I "need an excuse" or in any way have to justify my reasoning to anyone is hilarious.
Ok.

However, many people have given the reason that it’s not FDA approved as their reasoning for not getting it. Your opinions, thankfully, don’t represent everyone.

I still think if you have had COVID and have recovered, you have antibodies that are stronger and more reliable than any vaxx.

Can anyone explain to me the science behind why these COVID-recovered people are still required to get vaxxed? They should be able to get an exempt card similar to the vaxx card.

Just hold on. I'm sure Fauci and others will change their mind on this one too. I expect to hear that folks who have had COVID do not need to get the vax followed by the guidance that people who have had COVID still need to get the vax. So by Wednesday we should be back where we started and you can ask your question again then.

where did you hear the first part?…and if this were true, how would you know how long the antibodies last?

secondly, you can transmit covid when you have no symptoms…also, would you expect everyone to also get tested if they a)had no major symptoms? or b)had symptoms but won’t get tested?

Over the last few months, I've seen this stated several times on TV, by Fauci himself, and by several highly-credentialed and respected epidemiologists.

But this COVID strain is all new uncharted territory. To be honest, when doing a Google search now, it seems more and more articles by scientists are stating that even if you have had and have recovered from COVID, it is worthwhile, beneficial to get vaccinated, because we are learning that the vaccine helps fight more strains, mutations of COVID virus than natural immunity alone.

i was vaccinated in early april, caught it july with minor symptoms…as i’ve said, even ran with it.

a girl i used to work with, same story…she however is in the bed with fevers, a sore throat, and nausea.

again, we got tested because it’s the right thing to do …how many mf’rs are running around not getting tested, symptoms or not?

I may have asked back in July; Do you remember where or how you might have caught it?

Actually the science says that the immune response isn't as strong or last nearly as long as the vaccine.

Study was just published.

That's what I've heard as well.

I meant to add that: even if you've had COVID and recovered, and/or if you've been fully vaccinated, that isn't a magical guarantee that you won't later get COVID. Obviously plenty of fully vaxxed people have gotten COVID, and some have gotten COVID illness more than once.

But this shouldn't be used by people to say that "the vaccines don't work." They do limit the severity of COVID if you get it, and limit the spread of COVID I think. Nothing was going to be a cure-all for COVID, just as there is no permanent cure / blocker for other coronaviruses like the flu or a common cold. They are viruses we just need to learn to live / deal with, which includes the option of getting a shot.

I do wonder if year after year, all people of all ages and medical health will be required to get a COVID booster shot? Yes, COVID is different (worse) for at-risk adults (elderly, comorbidities) - but we've never required flu shots every year, including for children who are statistically proven to be at much higher risk of sickness / death from flu than from COVID.

oh yeah, pretty much narrowed it down to two spots.

one(a wednesday) was a lunch at a bar, two dudes beside me drinking beers on a lunch break(obx locals) talking about drywalling a house after lunch…talked to me about the food, the trip, etc…needless to say, that drywall job probably ain’t great haha.

second, the next night at a loud, crowded restaurant with the table behind us from texas, visiting for a wedding that weekend. ..dude was yelling and carrying on about houston and how many flight delays they had…he was sitting right behind me, no barrier between tables.

my symptoms started the following monday and if you follow the track re: exposure, it’s right in that window.

Hopefully fauci and others aren’t afraid to change their minds should the evidence dictate.

oh, you mean like the ability to pivot and change course accordingly when presented with new information?

even @gunslingerdick likes his president that way according to the afghan thread.
Maybe he should STFU until he has reviewed all the evidence available. That way he doesn’t look like a know-nothing hack that just wants to dominate the news.

Sounds like things are starting to look better in Florida, maybe that means Delta moves on out early Fall. Economy isn't going to get any more trillion dollar boosts...

these people poast here ffs
They're okay with consuming oceans of Mountain Dew, Doritos and Little Debbie cakes... to the point that they need the Rascal scooters to drag them through Walmart... but, a vaccine to help save their life, and to curb the strain that this is causing to the entire medical system? That's Satan incarnate!

They're waiting for God and the Prophets to give them the real wisdom and guidance. They're not sheep, but they will ingest medications intended for livestock.

I have seen something similar to this posted for several events. So I guess you can have covid and as long as you are vaccinated you can still enter the event.
Yes. As long as you get that magic card showing you've at least gotten one shot, it seems you're good to go. Regardless of how you currently feel. It's science.

Actually, its not really science; it seems to be about control...but I get it; if everyone there is truly vaccinated at some point, while people attending could still have COVID, the chances are way lower if all have received a shot, than if it were a free-for-all, let everyone and anyone in.

I wonder how well the entrance to large events like this will work. I assume LSU's stadium holds 70-80K? Checking each card to verify its legitimacy for 80K people, for each game, could take a lot of extra time. Quite different than checking someone's vax card at the door of a restaurant.

Imagine being on the side of those people in the last two videos on this thread.

Going, ya know what, THESE are smart people that I agree with. F all those doctors and those scientists, I'm going with this lady from Alabama who has an IQ of 30. Crazy what America has become.

It's kind of scary, really. I cling to the hope that it was always like this, relatively speaking. But, due to the technologies we have, we get to see it more readily.

I dunno what people are using Ivermectin for- as a way to treat Covid once you have it, or to prevent you from getting it- but "Chick bleeds" told me that all of the Tractor Supply Incs locations in the "Golden Corner" of SC are out of it! That means, if any livestock NEEDS IT... they're shit out of luck because people have bought it all to combat a disease that it wasn't intended to treat.

that’s fukkin unreal…again, i have no doubt these people contribute here.

and when they need medical attention, they’ll be looking for uncle bob who is also likely not vaccinated and owns only a halloween mask.
Well, they haven't really thought-it-through very much, from what I can tell. They don't know Fascism from Communism from Catholicism from Embolism. They even compare their experience to Holocaust victims. And, of course this was edited to get the most laughs. Hopefully, these are the fringe minority of the bunch. The way they articulate their concerns is bizarre. "Having their DNA wiped-out?" My own brother believes that if my nieces get vaccinated then they'll be infertile.

But, it is important to try and understand that these people are afraid, and to try to understand why they're so afraid. They're human beings, they're fellow Americans, and they're scared... really scared. I don't think anyone or anything will reach a vast majority of them. And, unfortunately, the way this thing is playing-itself-out, it will wind up killing the people who remain ignorant and refuse to get vaccinated.
