That matches my assessment, except I'm more optimistic about Withers than you are.We don't have anyone on the roster capable of starting at PF for a good ACC team. We also don't have anyone on the roster capable of starting at SF for a good ACC team.
That's why there is no much uneasiness over this scholarship being wasted on Dunlap. We have very real needs for our starting lineup for the coming season, and Hubert is wasting time on a kid who will sit the bench until he transfers out.
Here's what's puzzling me . . . If our most critical needs are at SF and PF, why do we always seem to be talking about back court guys?
I'm not reassured when folks here tell me we'll be fine with Dunn, Wilcher or Jackson (if he reclassifies) handling SF duties. I still expect great things from Wilcher (despite sliding in the rankings), but unless he's grown a good bit, it's hard to imagine him getting more than brief minutes at SF.
I know there are a lot of people - possibly including HD - who like a 3-guard lineup. I like having that as an option, but not being forced into it.
6'2 - Cadeau
6'0 - RJ
6'4 - Wilcher
Lots of talent there, and RJ, at least, is a proven scorer. But short. For that to work, we need a really strong front court.
I'm hoping the trio of
Armando
Washington
Withers
...will be good enough. But Washington has yet to turn the corner, while you and others doubt whether Withers can deliver starter-level performance. Not to mention that there's nobody to slide in in case of injury or foul trouble.
What's your take on this strange focus on the back court and back court guys who can (but maybe shouldn't) play SF?
