So, you'd be perfectly fine with someone going on a message board & saying those things about you or your child (if you have one)? After all, it's apparently okay to spread slanderous, non-proven rumors about someone, as long as you do it on a message board. o_O IMO, the fact that this is a UNC message board makes spreading rumors & hoping Jalek is gone even worse. (I'm not saying you said you hope he's gone, but some so called fans have.) Those type posts would be excusable on a rival team's message board, but we're supposed to support our players, until it's been proven they committed a crime.

I'm with Arch! People need to wait for official information to be released, before throwing one of our players under the bus. Jalek could have gone to school anywhere. He chose UNC. That should mean something to our fans.

Him choosing UNC doesn't mean anything to me, it's possible that we may end up wishing he had chosen a different school. It also could be that he threw his team under the bus by allowing himself to be charged with a serious Title IX offense . . he accepted a scholly to come here and play the game he loves, by not maintaining eligibility and thus being available he isn't helping any is he . . ? Putting himself in a situation that may take some time to clear up is pure foolishness, especially when it arises mid-season.

Btw, there are a couple of folks that post here on this board (and I won't ID them) that in their confided opinion, believe he's not coming back, ever.

As for me or my kids, we'd still be playing for UNC and not being investigated and/or having to defend ourselves.

I do wish the young man the best of luck going forward.

Ok Mr. My kids and I would never... Something's I have learned over life. 1. Never say never. 2. You don't know what you will do with the right temptation. 3. Never ever assume your kids will do as you would. I know I certainly didn't and most of us didn't. At some point kids buck mom and dad's rules or example. We just hope the mistake isn't catastrophic to their futures. He may never come back I don't know, but for some people to spew off holier than thou crap is precisely why a lot of other fan bases can't stand us dook, and state aside. Again let the process play out; if it comes out that he infact is this stupid than have St it. But what if it comes out he is innocent, or worse he is the real victim? If it we're your kid sir how would you feel? And don't give me that my kid would never crap you just don't know what your kid would.do.

I can say such and claim that because I'm in my mid 60s and my kids are in their 40s . . deal with it.

I'm willing to let it play out, but, I'm also willing to share my opinion, even if it bothers you and some others . . because it's a message board and not a court of law.

It's how I roll . .

Gotcha so you roll like a judgemental prick; guilty until until proven innocent person. Got it...

This. People's personal opinions don't adhere to the same rules as the courts. Not sure why people act like this is out of the question.

Perhaps a discussion to be had elsewhere, though.

When was Jalek charged with anything ?

There’s a happy medium here. Newsflash: this is a message board, also known as a place where you can come and share your opinions on all things Carolina, including this situation. That being said, none of us are judge and jury so hop off the high horse and ignore posts you think are over the top. We all have our moments so don’t kid yourselves.

I am one of those that believe Jalek has seen his last days as a Tar Heel, have openly stated that so I don't mind being called out. Hope I am wrong...

Umm I never got sucked into the Zion to UNC movement that started; much like remember the Alamo I remembered the Wiggins recruitment. And Zion never committed or played for us now did he. This young man is a legacy, and is still wearing all his UNC stuff. He retweets, and replies to team mates still. He also retweets a bunch of pro UNC stuff. No it's not a 100% certain thing, but it's more concise info than a lot of other people have provided.
You constantly talk about something you've seen on Twitter like it's some kind of great authority. So he post unc stuff. Big deal. All that might mean is that he doesn't hate unc and his teammates and doesn't blame them for his mistakes. Or maybe he's just putting on an act. The point is everytime you start a post saying "I saw on Twitter, " your post is useless. And if you think it's more concise than this board you are clueless. Both are filled with nothing but gossip and conjecture.

I do not constantly poast stuff I see on Twitter you seriously need to go back from my first post ever and reread my poast I rarely use Twitter but found it revelent here

Other than to say that, I don't really know what else to say to someone who is proud to be a judgmental jerk, when it comes to discussing our players/team on a message board. o_O We're obviously not of the same mindset. I guess it takes all kinds to make up a community.

Maybe, some of us aren't fans of gossip. There hasn't even been any tangible information released to base that gossip on. It's all been slanderous hearsay & people have run wild with it. If I want to hear gossip, I can go to the beauty shop & listen to the nosy women. :p (FTR, I'm also a woman & gossip is the reason I hate going to the beauty shop.) Some posters on this thread are just as bad.

I doubt most of us would be surprised, if he doesn't play at UNC again. I definitely don't think he'll play again this year & would be shocked, if he played in Carolina blue in the future. That doesn't mean I'm going to spread horrible rumors & make ominous predictions about what he did. If information is ever released proving that he committed a crime, he will lose my support, but not until then.

I'm prouder than JF at the moment, thanks . .

I'm dayum sure not in the crowd of everything is waterfalls, rainbows and floral bouquets for all our players, that's for sure, I love our players/coaches, I'm just not a fan of those that are not considerate and respectful of other UNC students, in which Jalek was not . . or he wouldn't be where he is now.

I've never had to hire a lawyer to defend myself for a Title IX accusation.

Keep trucking', ISWMJ . . reality sure sucks does it not . . ?

Sorry, but it is not my job to spare the feelings of people online because they feel my opinions comes off as harsh to them. I'm sure Jalek doesn't give 2 sh**s about what I, some random poster has to say online. And no offense, but this board is not meant to be a safe space to sugar coat everything. And to pretend people aren't going to form opinions is as sanctimonious as it is naive.

I wish Jalek nothing but the best. He's a Tar Heel and always will be to me, but this is not a positive situation, and the outcome won't be sunshine and smiles, whether he committed whatever crime in question or completely vindicated. Now I've partaken in no gossip, and even said we shouldn't take any unofficial words as truth, so I'd appreciate not having this nonsense attributed to me.

However
, based his hired lawyer specializes in sexual-based defenses, and the multiple reports all share the same nature of crime despite being the allegations being different. So it's without question that this is likely a sexual based case considering these things. That's not "gossip", that's using clues to make an educated opinion. I'm sorry if that's such an issue to you.

Does anyone know what he is being accused of? Or know of an official report of what he is being accused of?

I get that no one except Jalek and the accuser really knows what happened, but it is sort of hard to understand why there is not anyone reporting what the accusation is. It's clear it falls under the umbrella of "sexual misconduct", but the actual charge still seems relevant.

I believe unless actual charges are brought, this info is not in the public records and info would not be available to anyone outside of Jalek, his lawyers, and whomever's apart of the accusation's team.

It would also explain why Roy and co. don't have much info to offer.

Obviously IANAL.

This is what I believe also. I have an 11 yr old daughter and I have told my wife that our little one will NEVER have a sleep over when my wife is not home.

Very smart , just being accused of something today and a lot of people will just assume you are guilty and law enforcement will treat you as if you are guilty.
And like I have told people before when it comes to crime it doesn't matter if you are innocent if a D.A. thinks they can convict you they don't give a damn if you are innocent.

So Felton spoke out for first time said it wasn't coach the university had to suspend him. Sounds like title x and he and coach said they expect him to be back sometime.... Editing to say I don't think he has had the hearing so he could potentially never play for us again. Just sounds confident he will be back. Don't know if I like the #freeJalek movement he wants all the UNC fans to do.

Hope like hell he is back this year.

I don't know about that. I don't have anything against the guy (that is if he is found to have done nothing wrong) but I didn't really care for his body language and I absolutely hated his play on the court. Is it any coincidence that we've reeled off 5 wins in a row just after he left the team? maybe it's coincidence but I don't want to jinx that. Bringing him back this year could rock the boat. I'm not saying he was necessarily a cancer or anything like that. But Roy felt obligated to get him some time on the court. Berry has gotten into a rhythm even if he is playing too many minutes. And we're trying to bring Seventh back into the fold.

I question the chemistry issues as well. But IF he comes back maybe he has learned a valuable lesson about the privilege that was given to him.

Good points. At least get him back on the team practice wise. Knock on wood but as we learned in 2012 with Butter, you can never have too many PGs.

I have to go with what his attorney said, "things are looking good" and "we will have him back in class and on the court as soon as we can".
Felton isn't facing criminal charges and doesn't have a pending case listed in an online search of state court records, but he is being represented by two attorneys.

One of the attorneys, Kerry Sutton of Durham, described the suspension to The Associated Press as being on an "interim" basis while the school seeks additional information instead of serving as a punishment. She declined to discuss case specifics.

Of course this thread is full of innuendo, conjecture and half truths. Federal privacy laws, thank goodness, remain in place.
The Courts in North Carolina do not post results of proceedings on social media or message boards.

The guy is lawyered up so they'll never be able to put a criminal case on him. Best the accuser can realistically hope for is a civil case. Question is how long do we wait until he gets reinstated? If no charges are ever gonna come we can't just leave him suspended. Once he's officially cleared by the police we would have to reinstate him obviously but the official investigation can get squadouche for months before they officially close it.
