Having Francis commit early will only set the tone for this class in a positive way. He's a team first guy, one who will be able to push the tempo for us, a tough kid and someone that other recruits are going to want to play with. He has that bulldog mentality which will only help his teammates by setting a desire- to-win mentality which you truly need out of your point guard. I can't wait to hear Roy call him "one tough little nut." Like I've said a few times, he's a kid who wants to be at Carolina and his desire to push others to join him can only benefit our program in the future. He's still fairly young and as he continues to build his relationship with Roy and the staff, he'll be able to go to them for advice and learn about Roy's system and what is expected out of him before even enrolling.
It's only a positive that he played HS ball with Manley, there will certainly be a connection between the two on the court, but also their will be a comfort level off the court as Sterling teaches him the ropes, and becomes a mentor to Jeremiah as he develops and finds his footing. Having someone like him who will most likely be around for multiple years, will certainly be a benefit to us as shown the last two seasons having guys like Marcus and Joel helping to lead us to deep runs as guys who know what is expected out of them to lead their teams on both ends of the floor.
It's been really nice in the '18 and now '19 class to have highly talented guys commit early and even very quickly after being offered, it helps set the tone for the class while also showing their desire to truly be a part of the Carolina family.
Can't wait for this season (the defending national champions season) to get under way, but also for the recruits in 2018 and 2019 to get to Chapel Hill and put on that Carolina Blue.
