Kill Whitey

I don't know or care what you call it. But if it happens around me/to me, etc., then that's the most reliable information I have.

Let me ask you a question - when you were in high school, did you ever talk about "white privilege"? Had you ever heard the term?

I'll answer that last part....yes, a lot.

Nope.

I actually backed it up by saying I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt that you're actually playing a character on here and don't really think all of this.

I'm not playing a character and I really do believe everything I write.

AND

I'm not racist.

Those two things can exist simultaneously. That's the beef I have with people like you. Minorities can cry about how they see things and people just eat it up. But when a white guy says he doesn't like the way he and his kind are being treated, he's racist. That's bullshit and I won't stand for it.

White Privilege scares you to death, doesn't it? It's simply not possible that I guy who likes to listen to rap music, and thought it was really cool when he was a teenager, could EVER harbor any racist beliefs, feelings or attitudes.

That phrase didn't exist before that.

Also...

Hey motherfuc*er, get it straight, I still like to listen to rap music.

Well, you know what? That is the epitome of racism. So, you might wanna build a time machine and go back tot he 1990's when everything was perfect. Because your refusal to "stand for it" isn't going to get you anything except anguish.

So anyone that sticks up for their own race is racist? Is that right? Or just white people sticking up for their race is racist?

First, you know I don't think you are racist. I am not trolling on this issue either. It is too nuanced to have a real conversation about it on a message board. I suppose like anything else, it depends. In some regards race relations are better. In others, they are worse. We'll get those Zima's I promised and solve some issues.

To you direct questions, I cannot recall when I first heard the term 'white privilege' but I know it is something that has been out there for a long time. True story, I remember being in 8th grade playing some silly history contest game in our history class. If you got the answer correct, you could take a basketball shot to get extra points. The question had to do with Slavery and the kid who got it right said just before the shot, "I just think one day Black people will be rule and whites will be slaves so please remember me guys." Not sure why I remember it, but it was definitely a white privilege-type comment.

As for high school, we had an actual race riot. Blacks vs Rednecks. Couple of guys got hospitalized. Parents held their kids out of school for a few days after. Chris Rock talked extensively about race in his stand ups during the 90s. They were quite good. No race was safe from his takes, but I found they had a lot of merit.

I don't think you're a racist. At all.

I enjoy this discussion and I think both sides have points. Where we really disagree is that white people are at any disadvantage whatsoever because they are white. I simply don't think that is remotely true.

Ok, we're getting somewhere.

I'm not necessarily saying that I'm at a disadvantage. But there is no doubt that others' disadvantages are blamed almost solely on white people. That I can't abide. And that was most certainly not the case in the 90s.

There are inherent disadvantages/advantages to just about everything, including race. But IMO, I do think White people have the best hand to play in general.

I would say ANYONE that thinks in terms of "their own kind" is an example of antiquated thought/beliefs. There's one "kind- humankind.

Maybe so. Maybe not. But if that were the case, I'm not going to apologize for it nor should anyone at any time ever try to convince me that I should apologize for it. Furthermore, it's a dog eat dog world and if I've been blessed more than others, then I'll be thankful and use whatever advantages I've been given to the fullest. To not do so would be spitting in the face of the blessings I have.

It was though.

2 big differences today (IMO)

1. White people are for sure more apologetic towards all minorities/protected classes.
2. Social Media has amplified all sorts of issues. Immigration, drug abuse, crime, etc are all down but it feels like things are getting worse. We have the 24/7 news cycle, facebook, twitter, insta, google, etc. Hell, the internet has changed everything.

I'll need a clear definition of "racist" before we can continue our discussion.
The antagonist to the protagonist. You're not Strom Thurmond-racist, no. I don't think you're very self-aware of how you appear to be racist, however.

That shit about "own kind" was helpful to me. That is a true seed of racist thought.

I think one should only apologize for any wrongs they directly perpetrated. Apologizing for others is silly. However, having compassion or sympathy is ok in my book.

I did read it all. This was the only part I cared to respond to because the rest was gibberish and the way I responded was funny.
Well, except for it being wrong, I'm sure it was hilarious to you. It was funny to me that you got it wrong.

Empathy, too.

Dick sees empathy as weakness, I think. It infringes on his perception of how "his kind" is being treated and maligned.

Nice sidestep.

Is Black Lives Matter a racist organization?
In that they are exclusively black? Absolutely. I guess they feel their "kind" is being threatened and wanna keep it pure. You guys have something in common.

Think I agree with the first part and not the last.

The 90s had some HUGE racial events (Rodney King and OJ are the first two that come to mind). Each side blamed the other and esp in Rodney King, black people blamed white people for everything in the aftermath of the cops being acquitted.

You know how some people hunt for compliments? When people do that, I don't give them one.

Also, I like to do nice things for my staff. I'd love to give them a day off here and there or bring them breakfast just to show that I appreciate them. But I never do it. You know why? Because I'm constantly bombarded with my staff beating me to the punch to ask for days off or for me to surprise them with breakfast for a staff meeting.

I'm not sure you'll get what I'm saying but at this point, I don't care.

@Terror Beard - why are you ignoring this one?

Is Black Lives Matter a racist organization?

Yes. 100000000% yes.

I loathe BLM and a lot of black people I know agree.

Those idiots kicked Bernie Sanders, who has done more for Civil Rights in his pinky than any of them, off a stage at a rally. If they're that ignorant I'm freaking done with them.

See... you're literally too stubborn (or ignorant, hopefully the former) to admit when you're just obscenely WRONG about something.

The 1990's was a fervently racist time. You've been shown... ahem, reminded... of a few of the many examples. But, you choose to act like "Hey, it didn't happen in Lynchburg, VA, so it's not my problem."

There is always a fire that needs to be put out. It's a constant vigil on people being pricks to one another.

@Terror Beard - why are you ignoring this one?

Well, first of all, you and two others are coming at me repeatedly. hard for me to keep up. But I appreciate that you don't think I'm racist. I'm not sure what else there is to respond to in that poast. I too had riots at my school. Frequently. Blacks against blacks. Whites against whites. Blacks against whites. That's high school. What do you want me to say?
