Knox visiting Dook today. Why??

Goodman knows less than most of us. I don't think we get Zion but he acts like UNC isn't a factor and I know that isn't the case despite what some Duke guys want people to think. Our lack of NBA studs has been an issues. Roy had done a great job despite this for sure but it would be nice to pull one of these 'stud' guys now and then.

As for Knox, as someone has already said, he always visits both when he comes to one. No big deal there.

Because he still has duke on his list and he could not very well be here in the area and not at least do a stop in for them.

And how were we between 2012-13 and 14-15 hm?

Not every fan has the same goals for the team. I grew up in a time when Dean was finishing top 3 in the ACC every year, going to Sweet 16's or better, but almost never winning a NCAA tournament. Those were good times. That is "relevant". In the down years you describe above we finished at worst 5th in an expanded, very tough ACC. dook finished 5th this year with more talent than any other team in the country and the supposed greatest "coach of all time". Yet they were and are relevant. As long as Roy gets some top 20 talent mixed with some top 50 and they keep winning 25+ games per year with the occasional run to the F-4 I'm good.

Exactly. And I loved that they stuck around. But at the moment, our lack of notables in the NBA is hurting us. JMM going from potential lottery pick to undrafted didn't help either.

And you honestly have no idea WHY we are having trouble signing top kids the 4-5 years?

You serious?

Thank the good Lord we have had Roy Williams to lead us thru this mess and that elephant is still in the room and still being used against us. And yet the man keeps us winning. AMAZING!

People act like the Dukes and Kentucky's never get bounced early in the tournament.

Is reading really that hard? Many, myself included, prefer SPECIFIC 3/4* peeps to SPECIFIC 5* peeps! (Maye> Skal; Huffman > Jeter) Many, myself included, would rather Roy build complete teams using a mix of 3, 4, and 5s that mesh, grow as players/people, play team ball, enjoy each other, and represent our beloved U well and NOT succumb to entire teams of hired one year mercenaries every year! I would love to get the occasional OAD, but I would hate to rely on them every year! I like getting to know and love our players and not hoping they aren't auditioning for the pros each year!

Mr. Knox would be a great addition to the Heels and the Heels would be great for Mr. Knox!

I'd also like to point out, for those chalking up winning 8 out of 14 ACC titles sine Roy has been here, most of them came when we had May, Felton, McCants, Lawson, Hansbrough, Ellington, Zeller, Barnes, and Henson. You wanna know what they have in common? Their top 10 burger boys.

To be the best, you need to recruit the best. It's that simple. 3 star projects will not lead us to national prominence and compete with the other blue bloods.

No one is arguing that a roster full of 3 stars would be competitive or what anyone specifically desires. But Roy's last 2 (of those 8) reg season titles were won with a roster blending 4 and 5 star recruits, only one of which was a consensus top 10 talent. So while I agree that we need talent, the way the recruiting landscape has changed, I'm not sold on the notion that our program has to sign OAD talent to be competitive. If Roy can continue to develop guys to be productive over the course of 3 and 4 years, and he's consistent in doing so, we will usually be the more experienced, albeit less talented, team. But in an era of supposed mega-talented, young teams, experienced teams have proven to be kryptonite for youth. We'll need to continuously sign guys ranked in the top 50, but having expirienced guys ranked outside the top 150 doesn't signal program decline to me. It just shows Roy is working a different kind of plan than maybe some of the other top programs. It may not be by design, you might believe Roy when he says "we've recruited all those guys too". But regardless, the current program strategy has been impressive to me. So much so that I have confidence in Roy's ability to keep us competing with whatever recruitment strategy he uses.

It is funny actually, we say we want a mix of 3-5stars playing for us so we can have talent and developed experience meshed together and rival fans run off screaming UNC does snot want 5 star players? It should be the most easy concept to understand yet they have to take it way away from what we consistently say. The funny part is the things we now days hear from Ky and duke fans about their own program, how they wish they had more seasoned experience like UNC has but they want to load up on 5 star players every recruiting season, they celebrate recruiting rankings like they are Nattys?

Put in perspective, since kalipari has been at Ky he has owned the #1 spot as the best recruiter in the country, now coming in second is duke, with Kansas an d Arizona fighting it out for 3rd. All of these programs have been able to pull in monster recruiting classes, do so every year now days. Yet between them there are 2 nattys that were won with teams dominated by one & done players? There was not a single one & done player in the last natty yet again, there wasn't one in the final 4.

Load up on one & done talent and claim some kind of victory in pre-season but the odds are in doing so you will not have claim to the post season title. Maybe that one & done is not as great a deal as those fans think it to be, sure seems to me they buy a lot of fools gold while the real gold goes to team built like Roy builds them. Sure, we want some 5 stars, we just do not want to sell our future for a todays dream that isn't likely to happen any way.

You need to shelve this 3* crap and bring it back WHEN that is all we have. We will be waiting.

Seriously. Does a 3 star recruit even get meaningful minutes for us this year? Luke was top 100. Next year will be a mix of 4 and 5 stars. Already have 2 top 60 players on board for 2018... This made up stuff is getting annoying.

I have also wondered why peeps insist on making things up to use against us. Is it ignorance or are we so deep in their heads that they just can't live with any success at UNC!

Roy has been as successful recently as any coach in the NCAA = fact!
UK and puke have won the recruiting battles recently = fact! (but Roy was there battling)
Cal and ratty have lost in the first round = fact!
Cal and rat lord have under-performed consistently = fact!
Roy recruits OAD, 5*s, and Glue types = fact!
Roy just won back-to-back ACC reg seasons = fact!
Cal and ratty are whiny beyotches = fact!

UNC does not recruit or desire OAD or 5* = myth! (and only fools think this!)
UK and puke are better places for elite players = myth!
The NCAA "stuff" has no effect on recruiting = myth! (this is the most foolish statement out there!)

Join the Family Mr. Knox! (back on track, lol)

Go Tar Heels!

Mr Knox and family has pushed back there decision to mid April so they can watch the teams in the tourney and have not ruled out more in home visits during the tourney. This race is tighter than a pair of corduroy pants two sizes small!!!

The great thing about this is that he's actually weighing his options. If he was a lock to Dook or UK as originally thought, he'd have committed by now.

It's a good thing to see v.s. a recruit just holding out for as long as he can to build up his own hype.

In an interview with Knox yesterday, he said K told him during the 2-hour meeting that he can freelance and do what he wants to do on offense. Take it for what it is worth and draw your own conclusion.

Dooks coach did indeed sell that to him while.meeting with him and his family. K also said over and over again that Tatum didn't play a good game. Leads me to believe Knox had questions about Tatum being forced to guard Hicks and Meeks. Also Knox was very complementary of Justin. Knox said he liked how Roy let him get a rebound and do his thing with the ball. Also said he would be watching Jackson in the tourney very closely.

If you listen closely to Knox Sr's interviews, I bet this approach fell flat on its face. Mr. Knox is not your typical father of a top 10 recruit.

Nice. If I'm Knox, after hearing this, first question I ask to K: " is that what you told these other 4 and 5 stars eternally buried at the end of your bench, too?"

That comment from Vader is eye popping IMO. vader has always been sold as Mr Discipline ,Mr System, Mr follow the rules NOW he is saying to this kid do whatever the hell you want on the court .... FREELANCE

Now look he is a con man and has repeatedly lied to recruits and players over the decades, so maybe it is not so surprising after all.

My how times have changed. HOF & legendary coaches(Roy, K, Cal, Pitino, Boeheim etc...) have to promise the world to get an OAD. Shame NBA didn't change rule for high school players to enter league or stay in college minimum two years.

I think the LOM has felt for some time now that Knox to dook was a given, much like most "experts" and many of our own fans. I'm not saying he's coming to UNC but I think the Knox family is torn at this point and seriously considering us. I don't think you could drive a pin up K's arse with a sledgehammer right now.

If by pin you mean telephone pole, and by sledghammer you mean jackhammer, then I would at least like for someone to try......

I think dook is like that chick that wants to keep you away from other chicks more than she actually wants you. I am sure Trent and Carter and whoever comes back will be content to stand around and watch Knox freelance.

That "freelance" garbage should be very easy for Knox to see through. As someone said, Im sure Trent, carter, Jackson and maybe allen and Kennard will all just sit back and watch as Knox "freelances" all over the court. Its such a weak sales pitch and has nothing to do with reality.
