You said nothing of the sort.
Yeah, ok, YOU know what I meant more than I did.
I'm sorry that you're not very good at this.
AhahahahaSky's the limit.
Hi dadika13, SMILE. suggestion, thank GOD for those that chose to wear that CAROLINA BLUE, support them and love them. Again I want to remind you that this is a suggestion. It is our FREE WILL to choose. THANK GODHow much better can he get? The ceiling on an unathletic, undersized, worker-type player is pretty low.
I'm sorry I'm not a damn mind reader when you don't specify what you mean when you say shit like "Hansbrough is calling" in response to the opinion that Luke Maye is merely a hustle type role player.
No one is denying he had a good game last night, I'm very glad he did. It was needed at a crucial juncture, but to say this puts to bed my concerns about him going up against tougher competition or that he's the second coming of Hans? That's ludicrous.
Well weve already had Sterling Manley, the 250th ranked recruit in the 2017 class and a UNC signee, compared to antawn Jamison. Not only compared to him, but was labeled as an "Antawn Jamison clone". So Im pretty much to the point where anything said here doesnt surprise me.
No, dean4 pres started off by saying "Hansbrough says hello" insinuating that Tyler is somehow in the same realm as Luke Maye. So even though he clarified after that he WAS still making the comparison even with the qualifications. Its still a really really dumb "comparison" or "observation" as the two are worlds apart talent wise .. Tyler was a first round draft pick, so using NBA draft net to prove some type of similarity to Luke is beyond absurd. Hes basically saying that Tyler overcame limitations to be a high level player. What he fails to mention is Tyler was the number 5 recruit in the country and was hardly considered unathletic by college standards, which Luke assuredly is.
If you cant see how unintelligent even mentioning the 2 in the same sentence regardless if it was a straight up "comparison" or not its probably because you are resorting to semantics.
I have no problem saying Luke did very well last night and scarily enough we needed him to. The game and team we were up against is a team Id expect Luke to do well against.
The issue comes where the OP states "any more questions" as if a solid outing against a mediocre Davidson team should just make us all realize Luke Maye is a great player and should play a lot of minutes against top flight competition. Then you have others throwing Hansbroughs name around and well- you shouldnt be surprised with what you get in this thread.
That's the problem, you DID try to act like a mind reader. You tried to conflate my implying that an unathletic and undersized player COULD have a high ceiling with stating the he was the equal of Hans in talent, when nothing in my post even remotely implied that.
Obviously he's going to struggle against supremely gifted and taller opponents. But he's not the scrub most make him out to be, and he puts forth more effort than some of those more "gifted" players.
Sadly, Mikey, closely-held narratives are hard to dislodge... no matter how false they may be.Any more questions?

Reading comprehension dude, you are brutal! Agree w/everything TFKAPS said in the post after yours. Out
The original post that started this squabble was "How much better can he get? The ceiling on an unathletic, undersized, worker-type player is pretty low." The answer is he CAN get pretty good. While I'm in no way comparing anybody with anybody Larry Bird was pretty slow, undersize, and unathletic. He was also one of the toughest SOB's to ever play and made himself into a Hall of Famer. So the answer to the original question is there really is no ceiling. Some of you folks need to learn to develop basic reading comprehension skills.
Have some respect for our Lord and Savior on this board please.
I balked at the Hans and Bird comparisons in this thread, but you've elevated Luke to all new heights with this poast Billy
Sadly, Mikey, closely-held narratives are hard to dislodge... no matter how false they may be.
"poast"? What are you... 12?The irony of this poast is unparalleled in the history of the interwebs
You're going to beat that horse not just after it's dead, but after they put it 6 feet under
Whats the matter? Catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror?I...ahahaha..I just...ahahahahah... I just cant..Omfg
ahahahahahah
So the 250th ranked player in the class being called a "Jamison clone" isnt even just a little ridiculous to you?

Jamison clone are your words, not his. He never said that, as he alluded to in an earlier post in this thread.
I'm not expecting a damned thing. I replied to Mike's post, not yours. But since you brought it up, I imagine Luke will continue to get significant minutes vs any and all competition, as he should. And yeah, you do have a narrative --- a pretty persistent one, in fact --- that anyone who doesn't come to UNC with big * ratings can't play against "big time competition".I said Luke played a great game.. there is no "narrative" here. If youre expecting me or others to say Luke is an amazing stretch four who will lead us to the promised land , then no. If Im proven wrong on that I will be the first one here to say Im wrong. But I still hold that he shouldnt be getting major burn against big time competition.

No assumptions here, just the ability to read.False. You responded to mine after I laughed at you. Now youre just talking out of your ass again making assumptions about what my "narrative" may or may not be. No, I think based on what Ive seen that Kenny can, and he wasnt highly rated, so there goes your make believe assumption.
Yes, he did, and hes said it a bunch of times.. as well as insisting Manley will be a 5 star come next summer.
No assumptions here, just the ability to read.
And seriously? You just questioned Kenny's abilities a few days ago ...
...but hey, ok, glad to see you've come around.

I do have the ability to maintain a flexible viewpoint.
A UNC caliber player to me means the best player we can get. That may be a Harrison Barnes or it may be a Kenny Williams. Either way is fine by me. They wear the same uniform and as long as they are good citizens I'll take 'em. I'd prefer the ones that are ranked in the top 40 or so but that is not the determining factor as to whether or not I will show them the respect they deserve for representing UNC.Seems as our recruiting has devolved, so has the fans ability to recognized what a UNC caliber basketball player looks like. Its fine to have guys that can come off the bench and contribute and win games against the Davidsons of the world. But we really dont need to pretend its something more than what it is.

Hansbrough was not "undersized" or "unathletic." It's a lazy comparison to compare Maye to Hansbrough just because both are white.
