Minnesota vs UNC Game Thread….

Agree. Trying to figure out what it was that Drake liked so much about him
Did he talk to any other options? Knowing Mack, it is possible Maye was told, 'well, Drake, if you don't care for this guy, I got a few former players from Texas who might be good.'

We have a pretty favorable schedule leading up to Clemson. If we can win the games we should, we would go into Clemson undefeated. Unfortunately UNC football doesn't allow us to have nice things and we'll lose two games along the way.
You are naturally pessimistic. I am pessimistic only the I see cause to be so. In this case, I know this team can get to the Clemson game undefeated. Can it screw up badly a time or two? Yep. The DL is still nowhere nearly s sound as it should ben, and the Was are a bunch of talent largely undeveloped which hurts the offense a good deal. But I think this bunch at least believes it should be undefeated when it plays Clemson.

How am I naturally pessimistic? I've gone up against your pessimism constantly. If I'm pessimistic, we need to come up with a new word for you.

The jury is still out on Chip.
I liked that Chip decided to just have Maye throw a million times to McCollum. Cuz it worked.

Combine all the rushing we did in prior games with the passing in this game and the O looks to be potentially well-balanced. And our 3rd down conversion % has been fantastic. Redzone has been decent. Maye is finding the TE and a few times finding the RB downfield.

The variety has been decent. I loved that little shovel pass even though it didn't go anywhere.

Last game we got stuff a few times at the line, but we also were able to pickup 3rd & short on the ground when needed.

There is plenty of time for us all to start hating the OC, but i'm not there yet. If we play good enough defenses that keep us "behind the chains", then we're going to despise every screen he tries to throw. But if McCollum can stay healthy, and if the big backs don't get stoned at the line repeatedly, then the TE are always going to be open & reliable...

Lampkins is a difference maker for that Oline, he creates holes and O runs well thru holes. I think this team has a kind of funny identity, looks to me like our ability to pass sets up the run more so than the conventional way of thinking, run setting up the passing game. It was the threat of Drake that made AP not want to load the box for our running game, Minn did load it up and Drake passes for over 400. I think teams may be more able if they look to minimize Drake's ability to get guys open and give up maybe more yards in the running game. I think you have to blitz Drake from all over, disguise it as best you can and hope he doesn't escape out the back side for a sizable gainer with his legs. Real key is getting behind schedule on first down, you know 2nd & 9 or so, we are not as likely to run then.
