Muslim student arrested for building a clock

AHMED MOHAMED AND HIS CLOCK AREN'T VICTIMS OF ISLAMOPHOBIA, JUST ZERO TOLERANCE

The media and the usual politicians are frantically playing up the story of Ahmed Mohamed and his clock. Their attempts to blame "Islamophobia" are cynical because they know quite well that this is about Zero Tolerance.

Zero Tolerance is a post-Columbine phenomenon that turned schools on into a paranoid crackdown mode over anything suspected of somehow being a weapon. Common innocent behaviors result in suspensions, disciplinary action and even arrest.

Here are some of the crazier Zero Tolerance "weapons" actions that did not in any way involve Islam or Muslims.

1. The Pop Tart Gun - Josh Welch was eating a Pop Tart when inspiration struck. “All I was trying to do was turn it into a mountain but, it didn’t look like a mountain really and it turned out to be a gun kinda,” the second grader told local Fox affiliate WBFF. When Josh’s teacher saw that he had eaten his breakfast pastry into the likeness of a weapon, Josh said, “She was pretty mad… and I think I was in big trouble.”

Josh’s father, B.J., was called and school officials reportedly told him that they considered Josh’s actions a threat because he said “bang, bang” while holding the breakfast pastry. The second grader was then suspended for two days. A note was sent home with every child at Park Elementary School in Baltimore, MD., explaining the incident saying, “A student used food to make an inappropriate gesture.”

2. The Spitball Weapon - Spotsylvania, Va., high school freshman Andrew Mikel has been suspended for the school year and has been placed in a “diversion program” by police for blowing soft plastic pellets through a pen at three classmates.

“In early December, my son shot what amounts to a spitwad. They classified the spit wad as a weapon, expelled my son from school the rest of the year, filed assault charges on him with the sheriff’s department, mandated that he take ‘substance-abuse counseling’ and ‘anger-management counseling’ and must do 24 hours of community service.”

3. The Cloud Gun - This week, a second-grade teacher in Colorado filed a behavioral report on a boy after he drew a picture of a gun because she instructed him to go outside, look up at the clouds and draw what he saw.

“Draw a picture of what you see in the clouds from your imagination,” 8-year-old Kody said, describing the teacher’s assignment.

4. The Bilbo Terrorist - Aiden Steward, a 9-year-old boy from Kermit, Texas. After watching the movie “The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies” one weekend with his family, Aiden brought a toy ring to school and told a classmate that he would make him disappear, much like Bilbo Baggins did in the story.

School officials, however, considered Aiden’s playful statement to be a “terroristic threat” and suspended the young boy from school, under the premise that no threat would be tolerated, whether real or imagined.

There are a million of these stories. They're all stupid. In the Ahmed Mohamed case, there was at least an actual unknown device that could have passed for a bomb. That's not the case with little kids with a pop tart or a lunchbox.

But none of these kids got an invite from Obama because they don't have Muslim Privilege, the way that Ahmed Mohamed does.

Muslim Privilege is why the media insists that unlike all the other Zero Tolerance cases, Ahmed Mohamed is special and needs to be the center of a national dialogue about Islamophobia. But the truth is that the insane state of Zero Tolerance is a leftist hysteria created by Educrats to push gun control. That hysteria has since gotten out of control.

If the left wants to have a dialogue about not punishing kids for chewing pop tarts into guns, let's talk about it. But favoring Ahmed Mohamed because of his Muslim Privilege is dishonest at every level. Zero Tolerance was created by the Educracy and they have to get rid of it for all students, not just Muslim ones. This is a country where all students deserve to be treated equally.

You know what would happen to my WASP daughter if she took a device that looked like a bomb to school? She would be arrested. And everyone would say that she was stupid for doing so. But because this little nerd is an Arab, he has been discriminated against and deserves to be put on a pedestal by Obama.

**** that shit.

Ummm...bullshyte. I had a "WASP" kid who brought his homemade binary computer to school. All kinds of wires and blinking lights. It even had a timer. Nobody was arrested. Nobody was alarmed. It was put on display in the media center. Of course, he brought it to school in a cardboard box instead of a pencil box.

Dude, THN is exactly right. If you look at something that could be a bomb, you damn well better be sure it is not a bomb before giving the all clear.

So the school was evacuated? The bomb squad was called? No?

In one post, you're deriding the idiotic over-reaction of zero tolerance and making sense and in the other you're saying "better safe than sorry".

Yes, the bomb squad was called. They are the called the police. Just like they were called on the kid with the pop tart gun.

Which one looks more like a threat?

Congratulations for using your brain, but don't let your comrades know of this- you would be expelled from the party and sent to work in a Siberian Labor Camp if this were known to the Central Committee.

Here's the thing- we have countless examples (some of which I listed) for students be suspended/expelled/arrested for threats of violence involving pop tarts, pea shooters, the one ring of Sauron, etc. Now we finally have a case where the prop in question actually somewhat resembles a dangerous device and the kid becomes a hero and a victim of discrimination only because he's an Arab. Such a bunch of bullshit and all too typical of the left, which has way too much shame and not any guilt. It's a terrible combination.

I love this post - especially your new hashtag.

As 71 already said, thanks for that! But I bet at least one person standing around you was thinking to themseleves that the thing looked like a bomb. Thank goodness you had control at that time.

After I saw a picture, the first thing I thought of was "Where is the boom?" And for a second I was amazed that no one could see that so why would someone think it is a bomb? Then I was reminded of the Pop Tart Terrorist and other liberal educrats inspired zero tolerance disasters. Hero status is not something they now get to throw on the "victim" here. Not unless they start using common sense and incidents like these stop.

I mean, him getting arrested was a bit much but he did bring something to school that kind of looks like what people would think of when they think of a homemade bomb. Lesson learned. It shouldn't be the story that it is.

But down in plenty of other cities.

"[M]ost cities have not shown a significant increase in homicides over the last year. But the overall increase of the cities is highly statistically significant....

Nonetheless, there are some big reasons not to assume that crime is on a long-term increase."

That's a very nice chart, and all, but if we are talking about urban murder rates in a post Michael Brown and Trayvon world, I fail to see how statistics for a period ending in 2012 are relevant in even any tiny way.

And now it appears that he BOUGHT a clock on EBay and put it in this case. This is a setup from the beginning. Another islamophobia hoax.

O.M.G....If this is true, I expect that there will be the defenders who will try to make us believe that he did this just to impress his engineering teacher and that it wasn't an effort by somebody to create some false persecution of Islam.

Jesus...liberals are a disgusting bunch.

I've been out of the loop on this situation, but reading up on it today -- good lord, this is EXACTLY why we need someone else in office. Everything about this just wreaks, and then - yet again - our "leader" rushes to social media when it's convenient for him to do so. What a joke.

I don't really care how many here think I'm an idiot for voting Trump -- this country needs a different direction and no other candidate on either side IMO would provide it.

I understand and respect your sentiments, but I think we would get a different direction from Rubio, Carly, Carson, Christie and Cruz. I'm even warming to Jeb a little bit, but I could never vote for another Bush.

Trump's problem is that he is not qualified to do this, although if he surrounded himself with the right people and limited himself to being a figurehead while others did the work, I would be ok with that, provided I know who he is hiring. Trey Gowdy is a good start.

Gimme a link, Gac.

UNC....I read one article that stated that he was a muslim activists...I went back and did more research and would like to retract my statement.....the article was from a right leaning organization and I think they probably stretched the truth on this one...even to far for me!!!! The dad is a muslim and has fought for muslim rights....is president of a muslim organization and has run for Pres of Sudan.......he also was involved with that nutjob down in Florida who burned the koran several years ago......calling him an acitivist though.....I did not find any real truth to that...at least in my book!!!

Interesting...would certainly like to see the Police report! How many times are police unfairly judged only for the rest of the story to come out they be justified in their actions...and how many times is the idiot in charge going to jump the gun only to have things like this come back and bite him in the a$$....not saying that this will end up like that...but it certainly seems to be trending that way.....

Wonder why the liberal media is still not covering this case....maybe because it is all playing out to be a total bull shit case....typical liberal media! Make something out of nothing because it fits the liberal democratic narrative..then when it is proven to be lies and BS....ignore it and move on to the next liberal BS story! Glad your guy's Pres. made an ass out of himself....AGAIN!!!!!

I think it's pretty obvious at this point that someone cooked up this cockamamie scheme. The important question is "who was it?" If it was dad, it still looks bad. A muslim (and mind you this isn't any run-of-the-mill muslim, but a guy that has political aspirations) just happens to have a clock-building son that just wanted to take his "invention" to school to impress his teacher? Yeah, that sounds real. But I have a hankering it's even more nefarious than that. I think maybe that Council on Americans-Islamic Relations had something to do with it. And dare I say, but maybe even that organization got orders from an even higher power. Some might find that crazy conspiracy talk but this administration has shown repeatedly they will stop at nothing to further their agenda. They're terrible people.

I was thinking this very thing about it just the other day. In other words, push the envelope with something innocent so as to set up something not at all innocent. Kind of thing that long range thinkers do. But of course, no one worries because poor Ahmed meant no harm.

I'm not saying that's what happened, but I am also not dismissing this scenario as a possibility.
