Nas Little wins McAA game MVP

I am really impressed with Nas, love his game. His effort was great the entire night (Roy's gonna love that) and I think that is what is going to separate him from a lot of players next year. You can see he has that fiber in him that he won't back down from anyone. Those two defensive series where he really turned up the intensity, stand out and show a lot about the player that he is and how good he can be on that end too which would be huge for us.

I said it in the other thread because it really stood out, that look in his eyes is special, it's something that a player has in them and he has it, he is one heck of a competitor. He wanted to win those possessions and he did exactly that, he deserves every bit of that MVP trophy. Also, I love how he went right at the dookies and made them pay, he is ready!!

Not surprised at all. Nas is an unreal talent. We haven't gotten a player with his raw ability since Vince.

I'm in the camp that doesn't care if Nas starts or not.... as long as he gets on the court! He's gunna be a special frosh for Ol' Roy, and yeah, I believe OAD with a bullet.

I'm trying to think of the last player Roy had that was similar to Nas, and the first name that popped in my head was Pierce. I think Nas is more athletic than Pierce tho.

Props to @FlaTarHeel for being the first person to recognize how talented Little is on here.

I'm happy to've been the second.

Kid is gonna be a star. At this level and the next.

He's already so polished offensively and will be the most talented player on the roster the second he steps foot on the court in the summer. He is starting, no question.

Did you also see him strap Zion twice in a row lol

I'd take Nassir over Zion every day of the week. That kid is special and he knows he's had to work hard to get where he is and he's got a chip on his shoulder. I love it and I look forward to having another Tarheel have a long and successful NBA career down the road. I can see Zion not being anywhere near the player they think he's going to be. He maid a HUGE mistake going to dook playing with those other guys. He should have gone to Clemson

Eh...I think the impact of a player's college choice on his long-term success is almost negligible, at least for players of that caliber. If Zion is successful, it won't be because he picked Duke; if Zion is not successful, it won't be because he picked Duke.

I think Zion made a fine decision. He wouldve had to be the man on Clemson and I don't think he was comfortable doing so with risk of being exposed... Now at Duke he'll average 13 and 9 like Wendell with ease just getting the lobs and easy layups Wendell got this past year..

It looked like Zion dislocated his thumb after Naz poked the ball out on one of those drives. I like that Naz was challenging Zion to try and score on him, but he couldn't.

2. Bigs have to progress this summer

His motor and assertiveness is nice to see. Haven't had a guy like that since Hansbrough. Best athlete Roy would of had on the roster since Tokoto.

Step on their throat mentality has arrived. I hope it translates to Wins for UNC. I also hopes he can guard the 3. #woffordshouldneverofhappened

Not to be argumentative but I do not think it was the best decision for Zion to go to duke and frankly, picking us would not have been a better decision. I say that because duke as well as we are really stocked with 4s and 3s. Now of course he will and would have played no matter where he went but he is going to have to share time at duke else that team has to play a lot of guys well out of position. IN the end Zion is a short 4 with exception strength, Reddish likely becomes their wing with Barrett most likely at their 2. Had he went to Clemson he would not just have been the featured player, he would have all the PT he could have wanted and not had to share the spot light. Just IMO...

BTW, I strongly believe Naz starts for us next season either at the 3 or the 4, strongly suspect at the 3 but that may depend on Cam. But some did not agree, wondering if maybe that has changed in their minds now after watching his work in the Micky D game?

I agree with your assessment. Zion pretty much said that he chose dook as to not have the pressure of being the guy and all the expectations. I forget the exact quote, but that was how I received it.

He is still a kid, but I wonder about what type of fight he has. I think he is going to fade into dooks system and become at least a 2 year player. Clemson would have made more sense... maybe even South Carolina.

I am getting a little giddy just thinking about next winter and the hype and, if both stay healthy, there will be PLENTY of it....Nas Vs Zion.... Carolina and dook as if the rivalry needed more but I think it just may be getting it.

I discussed Zion several times over the last year, when most UNC fans really wanted him bad. Kid is big time talent for sure but I do question his ability to come in to a program and especially a well established blue blood and be a dominator like he was in high school. He was so much stronger than most HS 3s and 4s, able to bull his way in to position with relative ease, not so easy vs guys that have been in a college S/C program for 4-5yrs. He is not long, rises up well for a kid in the neighborhood of 280-290lbs but he is in that 6'6-7" range, good arm length but as a college 4 (where it is most likely he plays) I think he can be played over the top of.

As should be well known by now I didn't and still do not feel Zion was a great fit for us, would not have been upset had he picked us because in time he could have become a bit of a shorter Meeks when he learns to use his bulk to carve out space without fouling but that does not define out as a 1&D IMO. I do not see him as a + defender or more than an average shooter and if he can not bull his way in to easy scoring position I am not sure he is that huge a get for a duke that will not have him for more than a freshman season. Just IMO

I wanted Zion bad! Then I heard someone mention us looking at Little. So I did a youtube search and saw a video with Zion vs Little. As soon as that video was over, I said "Nope, Little is the one I want!"

I watched the game.

If Zion is 6'6" I'm the Easter bunny.
Sure he is a solid 6'5" but he still carries some weight. His highlights included spectacularly missed dunks.

Nassir on the other hand looked to me to be truly ready. I was like an above poster who mentioned his reach and dang if he didn't create some TO's with his defense. jay W went on and on about not showing people up by playing defense in the Micky D's game....

I also like watching Coby. Kid is sure talented but just needs to tighten up a bit. As an example, at this stage he should not try dribble driving between two people. Unless supremely talented we learn not to do that in grade school.

Nas has a high motor and Coby has a good motor too.
Like so many above, I can't wait to see them next fall.

Yeah, I was being a bit generous with Zion's height but I wanted to give him more credit for length with the case I was making. Love White to, TY was one of the very few that could get away with driving thru heavy traffic with the dribble, splitting doubles ect but Ty was a very rare ball handler.

IMO, Naz start for us next season maybe more due to his commitment to defense than his offensive ability, everyone else plays a game, Naz goes to battle. In his approach to the game I see some George Lynch in him but with maybe more of an upside, I like the comparisons to the Spurs star as to his upside, would love to see him for a second season with us but suspect we only get 1.

Zion is not staying longer than one year. Guaranteed. He wouldn’t have even gone to college if it hadn’t been a requirement.

From the USA Basketball camp:

Zion is 6'6" in shoes with a 6'10" wingspan and an 8'7" standing reach.
Nas is 6'6" in shoes with a 7'1" wingspan and an 8'9" standing reach.

Coby did very well, considering the type of free-for-all game that was played. It was wings and big man night with coaching/strategy out the window. This negatively impacted the guards play. I expect that Coby will shine under Roy and some real structure and coaching.

I expect to have one or the other of Cam or Nas on the floor at all times. If they each play 30 minutes, they would be on the floor together just 10 minutes in the game. No problem. (If they are on the floor together more than that, then you are playing some of the game with neither of them on the floor. I don't think we'll want to do that very often.)

Second? Seriously?

why the hell do you care?...why would anyone care who noticed and in what order?...unless you’re getting paid, and people on here clearly aren’t, you’d be a loser for hanging out on a fan site discussing it.

and if you wanna be fanboy ranked, go over to duke’s site and join that crowd.
