Prior to the stuff from yesterday I do not know of any information indicating Roy had back off of Little in any way, I honestly do not think he had. I seriously doubt Roy knew of any money transactions Arizona had or was trying to arrange with the kid or if there were any arrangements with the kid. While I am sure Roy knew the problem existed out there and in some cases knew a kid was taking cash offers, I think those instances are when we have seen Roy back away. I know of 2 guys that will be freshmen in college this season that it appears late in the game family put together financial arrangements and they ended up committed elsewhere, both to the same school by the way. I do believe Roy understood what happened but do not think he was offered the op to bid, Roy has a reputation among college coaches as being a "goody to shoes" (they do not call him that in a flattering way).
Roy tries to see the best in a kid, sometimes goes to far in that a kid that has some issues Roy will still try to see the best side of him, as in PJ, LMac, Graves, Drew, and even McCants. It hits him especially hard when that blows up in his face because the man really cares about his kids more than the program itself but he wil not do anything knowingly to put the program that Dean Smith built in jeopardy, he feels a real obligation to preserving the legacy of Dean that go way beyond himself. I as well believe Roy passes that same notion on to his assistant coaches, his assistants would never be allowed to do what Capel does, Roy does not like his coaches negative recruiting at all even thou we have been so often the target of negative recruiting.
Many of these coaches the image is crafted and is very different from the man, with Roy, what ya see is what ya get, the image is the man.
