NFL 2016-2017

And then the D gets burned. Unbelievable

They'll be fine. That's the NFL...notice a ton of these games that seem to be out of hand wind up going down to the wire. New England did today too. They were up by 21 and Miami had a chance to tie at the end. Just part of it.

Bradberry is gonna be a PLAYER though. Good find with that guy.

I know. Just frustrating to have the game well in hand and then get sloppy like that.

Oh well... It's a W and that's what matters.

And yes, I have high hopes for Bradberry as well.

The NFL officiating is just all around terrible equally as bad as the college game. I think the guys are even older too. The NFL has discussed full time officials but the refs union fights it. The refs have a fuc$ing union think about that for a minute.

Did anyone see Dallas - Washington game? I don't care for either team but I hope Josh Norman got burned a few times. Or did he wuss out again and not cover the best receiver?
The genius coaching staff seems to prefer that Norman NOT cover the other team's best receiver. So, Washington lost... again. Gruden's tenure is nearing its end, thank goodness. Same goes for the Defensive Coordinator.

I think Washington may have a decent GM, finally.

Yeah, I don't get paying all that money for him and then not matching him up with Antonio Bryant and now Dez Bryant.

did, cowboys fan here...the sunday ticket for almost 20 years.

norman played well, but dallas moved dez around...he still gets away with so much contact...no other corner grabs like him.

Since 1990, teams that start 0-2 have about 12% chance to make the playoffs. There are eight 0-2 teams this season; odds say that one of the eight will make it. So who do you think it will be from the following losers... ?

Miami
Buffalo
Cleveland
Indianapolis
Jacksonville
Washington
Chicago
New Orleans

It's hard for me to believe any of these would make the playoffs, but gun-to-my-head I'll say the Colts, only because their division is typically weak and I still think Luck can get them going at some point.

Washington is worse than Cleveland. Josh Norman was rated the #2 cornerback this weekend (ironically, behind James Bradberry, according to PFF)...they paid $75 mil for his services, and won't allow him to cover the top WR. I'd be PISSED if I'm Josh.

At least Cleveland sucks b/c they lack the talent. Washington has it...

Getting a huge paycheck while not having to cover the opponent's best receiver sounds like a good gig to me.

Unless you're a competitor. Respect is important, and J.Norman is coming off looking like a joke to the rest of the league.

I'd have to go with Indy too, for the same reason being who else is gonna win that division? Washington might have a shot since the rest of that division isn't anything great either.

the colts or the saints from that list...only because they actually have a qb.

speaking of the skins, i just read something this morning about the org making a statement that norman will now be allowed to cover beckham everywhere but the slot...good thing they announced before the game during weekly prep.

some fireworks in this one, betcha.

Yeah, apparently they didn't let Norman cover the best receiver in the first 2 games because they didn't want to hurt the other CB's feelings? Wow, what a great way to run your team. No wonder they usually suck.

meanwhile, they crushed breeland's feelings by allowing him to get worked like a b in those games...his confidence is gone...now he's got cruz/shepherd/beckham this week.

Yea, this coaching staff is looking pretty lame. Time may be limited for that crew.

Embarrassing to say the least. They are digging a hole early in the year. A different Vikings team came out in the second half. I guess the same could be said about the panthers. Our second half d sucked today

I was hoping for another miracle 4th quarter comeback, but the Heels needed the win more than the Panthers. Worse case they will only be one game back in their division with 13 to go.

The Panthers have a roster that should be vying for home field advantage through the playoffs, not just winning the division IMO.

Games like today are unacceptable. They always come back to bite you in the ass down the stretch. Luckily Arizona has dropped two as well.

What the hell is going on this year? They looked totally poised for another great year, and then this shit happens.

I've been a Panthers fan for as long as I can remember and they always seem to have a nasty habit of following up a great season with an average or mediocre one. I just hope this year isn't one of those years.

There's a combination of things, IMO.

1. The OL and DL have been non-existent. The only pass rush Carolina is getting comes with LB or CB blitzes...there is no push from the front four whatsoever. That is allowing the QB to stand back there comfortably and pick apart this defense. The blessing in disguise here is just how well the rookie DB's have played. That should be a MAJOR bright spot given what they are up against. The front 7 is supposed to be the backbone of this team, and through three games...they have been a weakness. They have to fix this, and IMO they might have to look outside the roster. There has got to be an edge rush.

The OL now through 3 games has allowed Cam to get destroyed. Denver with the controversial hits in the opener and then 8 sacks yesterday. They just got obliterated. Yes, Cam held onto the ball too long on many plays, but it looked like an illusion to me...he had virtually no protection.

2. Yesterday was just a disaster all around. There is no way they should lose that game. Special Teams gives up a TD. K.Benjamin gets a STUPID penalty to negate a 56-yard TD from Artis-Payne...on top of the numerous other penalties in the game.

I think they will get back on track, and they should score a lot of points once they get into divisional play, but the pass rush has GOT to improve. The other QB's in this division are all top-caliber...even if their teams aren't...if they have time to throw, they are gonna turn these games into a shootout, and we do not want that...at all.

Fortunately the NFC south isn't great, so the Panthers aren't digging too big of a hole. But IIRC, the Panthers have never had two winning seasons in a row. I don't think this year will be a 7-8-1 type of bad, but 10 or 11 wins might be their ceiling.

I thought a couple of years ago, they wanted to limit kickoff returns due to injury. Now they made a rule to encourage people to stick them deep in their own territory. At some point, they need to leave the game alone. Just like basketball, the game seems to get longer and longer

For example, reviewing plays. I like the idea of challenge flags. Now that they review turnovers and touchdowns automatically, it's like something is missing from the game. I like it when the coaches chose whether to review or not. Adds to the strategy of the game

The issue here is that Bozo the Clown Roger Goodell didn't think through the repercussions of the rule change, trying to incentivize returners to not return, he didn't realize it would incentivize kickers to kick shorter. And as usual, his pride is too great to admit that he f'ed up.

As a Panthers fan, there is no team I hate more than the Falcons. Can't stand those bastages. That being said....

1. Julio Jones is a freaking beast.

2. Panthers secondary is getting exposed by that goose-neck Ryan.

3. Jonathan Stewart being out hurts but regardless Cam Newton is playing like a bag of shit today ( and for most of the season so far). He's reverting back to lazy footwork, throwing off his back foot ALOT, and making some poor decisions/ bad throws. Plus he ignores my man Olsen for WAY TOO long. I guess he thinks it's just him and his buddy Kelvin on the field.

BTW, notice how many targets that Olsen gets when DA entered the game? You can't tell me that he wasn't getting open when Cam was playing. Just goes to show how often Newton ignores one of the best tight ends in the entire NFL. Very frustrating.
