NFL 2016-2017

If only we had someone who could cover a top WR. The front seven looks just tremendous...lets invest in those guys!

BTW, notice how many targets that Olsen gets when DA entered the game? You can't tell me that he wasn't getting open when Cam was playing. Just goes to show how often Newton ignores one of the best tight ends in the entire NFL. Very frustrating.
I havent watched a single second since the Falcons second TD, so I couldn't tell you.

I don't know what the hell has gotten into Cam Newton. It's like Benjamin's return screwed up what he had going last
year or something, I don't know. I agree though, Greg Olsen needs to have the ball. Sure, Kelvin needs to be a big part of the offense, but Cam needs to remember who has helped him the most, and that's Olsen. When he gets the ball, good things happen.

Gettleman's move to cut Josh Norman has ripped the soul out of this defense. And I truly mean that.
Yep, they just don't have the same attitude. They have this "Okay guys, I think we can do it" kind of attitude now. Last year, it was "I dare you to try to score." It's night and day. Should have paid the man.

Exactly. Last year Newton was forced to look at all his options but Olsen was getting many more targets. This year Newton seems to be reverting to look for KB first, second and third. Drives me nuts.

They really do. I think Bradberry is going to be a really solid CB, but they would be SO much better with him on the opposite side of the field with Norman. But it's evident....as great as TD and Luke are, Josh Norman WAS the heart and soul of that defense. Gettleman deserves every bit of the blame for this disaster. He bets on the linemen, and those are the two areas KILLING Carolina right now. There is no pass rush whatsoever, and Cam is literally getting killed every week.

Maybe Gettleman isn't as good as people give him credit for.

Cam picking up a taunting penalty doesn't help either. Guy needs to learn to play with some class. Hope the concussion isn't bad though, never like to see anyone hurt.

No offense, Hark, but nothing about Cam getting fired up was going to stop Julio from having the 2nd best day in NFL history or Matt Ryan (yes, Matt f***ing Ryan) throwing for 500 yards. That is absolutely a colossal disaster.

While that Is true, I wish Cam would stop some of that mess - it seems like his head should be more in the game than in getting baited into petty scuffles with the defense.

I understand that way of thinking...just respectfully disagree. I'm starting to wonder if something else is going on here we don't know about. Cam's mechanics are way off and that happens when you're trying to play through an injury of some kind.

My issue still rests with the OL, DL and Gettpeman for indiotically letting Norman go.

Maybe something is wrong with Cam, don't know. Possibly all those head shots that those cheap-shot bronco bastages delivered in week 1?

Maybe without JStew he's trying to do too much?

Not having Stew definitely hurts, but he's always been injury prone. Outside of last year, I don't think he has ever gone a full season healthy. They drafted Cam Artis-Payne to be that backup and I think he has some explosiveness, but the OL Is terrible. No RB is going to do much when the DL literally lives in your backfield.

Yep. If they don't get their crap together, I'm afraid the Panthers will continue the trend of never having two winning seasons in a row.

You guys are completely wrong. Benjamin should get at least 30 targets a game.

(the fact that I have him on one of my fantasy teams has nothing to do with my analysis)

As a Miami fan who lives in Tennessee so also pulls for the Titans, I am pretty much done with Sunday football this year.

Maybe if KB could actually get some separation. He's big, but speed is not in his repertoire.

Panthers are a hot mess right now.
Cam gets hit in the head multiple times a game.
No Norman
Benjamin seems to have disrupted the offense.
It simply seems the panthers have no heart right now.
Up to now, the suck thru and thru
Oh by the way, did I say they suck?

Accurate. I'm waiting for the annual "The answer is on our roster" remarks from Rivera to cover up the fact that our GM just gave the best CB in the game a swift kick in the ass out of the door.

I realize I'm a bit late to the funeral pyre, but goddamn what an embarrassment. We've had bad games in the past, but only when we were a sub par team or when Delhomme threw bad passes. This is a whole new level of disappointment. Knowing your team is supposed to be one of the best, but you're 1-3 with your QB likely out for two weeks because a) the refs don't seem to care about treating him like a QB b) he behaved like an idiot and took a shot he easily could have avoided. I love Cam, he's our leader and star, but it's getting harder to defend him from critics, especially up here in Boston. I don't wish an injury on anyone, but he borderline deserved that. That's how pissed I am at him.

Losing Norman hurts, but the front 4 generates virtually no pressure. The o-line made the Falcons look like the 85 bears (30th ranked D btw). And for some reason, Cam has reverted back to his 2012 self. And Ryan/Jones went through our D like crap through a goose, a D that ranked 6th last year in the league.

One thing's for sure, something about the Broncos f**ked us up. If we don't make some serious adjustments, this season could be a long one.

As much as I hate to admit it, I'm starting to agree with this line of thinking. He needs to buckle down and stop celebrating every little play and not get cocky even if a TD seems like a sure thing. He needs to be more self aware and take better goddamn care of himself.

I sound like a f**king grandmother right now, but after today I need to let off a little steam. Do you see Roethlisberger, Luck, Rodgers, Wilson, or Dalton doing what he does? It's not that I'm against him celebrating, it's that he sometimes does it unnecessarily. And for some reason, I'm getting the vibe that Cam isn't taking all this seriously enough.

If he wants to celebrate, do it how he did last year. Teams are targeting him more so now. I have saw multiple shots that should have been called that wasn't. That Denver game was horrible. I thought maybe the NFL would review that game and fine someone. I guess the worry over concussions omits cam.
And you guys are right, Denver busted their confidence. You basically have the same team minus Norman as last year. I wonder if there isn't something going on behind the scene that the public doesn't know about. Oh well, it's going to be a long season it looks like.

I'm not going to hit the panic button just yet b/c the division is terrible, and I don't foresee Atlanta having much different of a season than last year. Last year, they started hot and were 5 - 0 or something like that...then once the season drug along, they wore down and their lack of depth showed through. We were lucky to not play them until Week 13 last year, after they had essentially mailed in the season.

That said, this has to be fixed ASAP. I agree that mentally, Denver did something to these guys. They are a completely different bunch.

I'm not ready to panic either... Yet. I mean the Panthers have played Denver and Minnesota plus they always seem to crap themselves at shit-lanta.
The next few weeks are TB, @NO, bye, Arizona. None of those teams are playing all that well (especially "bye"). It's time to right the ship.

Bene Benwikere has been cut today.

So, now they have called up rookie Zach Sanchez. So...we have three rookie's to cover the secondary and Tre Boston (bless his heart) covering Safety.

If only there were a top CB available out there that wanted to play in Charlotte. Anyone? No one from South Carolina? (scratching head)

I think this may just be a lost season.

Maybe Gentleman is just wanting to get into the Myles Garrett sweepstakes.

Sheesh. Benwikere was decent enough in the past but he got seriously exposed last week.

And holy crap... Tre Boston!

Panthers are in trouble. Their upcoming schedule might (MIGHT) allow them to get back into decent position by midpoint of season but they would need to go 3-1 in each of the last three quarter-seasons just to get to 10-6. I'm not sure I see that happening.

I feel like this is essentially a "roll of the dice" like the season we started 3-8. That year, they basically scrapped the table, threw Josh Norman in full time, along with a bunch of other rookies...and they wound up sneaking into the playoffs at 7-8-1. Coincidentally, that year the changes were made after losing a disaster of a game to Minnesota. Eerily similar.

I hope this works -- it's absolutely a gamble on this staff to throw the rookies out here and hope they are "grown up" by the time December gets here. They SHOULD have enough raw talent on this roster to stay in the playoff hunt till then. But this is a huge - unnecessary - gamble given where we ended last year.
