NFL 2019-20

TBH, Wilson is not a bad guy at all. But every time I see him run for a first down on 3rd and long, my mind flashes back to that game in Chapel Hill (2010?) where moo had a 4th and ~ 20 and that SOB ended up scrambling for the 1st and those bastages beat us 28-27, IIRC.

i think he’s the mvp every year because without him, they are 4-12.

Pretty good batch of games overall for wildcard weekend. When my team isn't in the playoffs (which is more often than not... :(), I can just watch and enjoy competitive games.

agree...the product this weekend is why i never leave.

twitter is nuts over the clowney hit vs the hit on wilson in regards to protecting qb’s..:all this happened so fast, i can’t even rewind fast enough...the league can’t get this qb hit right or the replay right.

Freaking Seahawks might just make SB after all. They were an unbelievable 4th and goal stop from being the one seed. They can definitely beat GB, and then Minn or SF again. I would trust wilson to get me there before Cousins or Jimmy G.

I actually missed both of those hits in real time. Did they throw a flag on either? And do you think the hit by Clowney was intentional?

Yep. I know Mike McCarthy (MM) is not an outside the box pick, probably is the safest pick, and it sucks that the Cowboys and JJ have conditioned me (and other fans) to think this way, but they could've chosen so much worse. I'm surprised they didn't do the stupidest thing - like approach Marv Lewis, Hue Jackson, or even Tony Romo or Jason Witten.

I have concerns that MM was ultra-conservative and became very predictable and underachieved, squandered some opportunities he had to win more Superbowls when the window was open for Green Bay. But it does seem somehow he usually had his teams ready to play, and he had quite a bit of successes regarding W/L including playoffs. Can't say that at all about Garrett.

Sounds like maybe MM will bring on Mike Nolan who once was head coach at SF, and MM was his OC at that time. Nolan currently is linebackers coach at New Orleans.

On Clay Travis radio show this morning, he's throwing out that Dak wants the highest ever money in his contract ($35 - $40M), and that Jerry should look at trying to get Brady for two years instead. You guys hearing anything of that kinda talk being legit, or is it just sports talk jibber jabber?

def jibber jabber...i think this was rumored before the season started and trusted media said this how everything starts as far as negotiating this type of deal...while his agency might seek that, dak, i don’t believe is that consumed with it...i really don’t believe he’ll get more than $35m.

what about brady to the chargers or another team that can win and needs to sell tickets?

Apparently the Patriots WR coach is gonna get the Giants gig. I never heard of the dude, and the Patriots WR's seem to be considered a weak link on the team, so not sure how this will go .

the giants are blowing it and it’s fantastic...supposedly rhule, which is a great hire i believe, called the giants and gave them a chance to come close to the panthers offer, and they declined.

this morning mike lombardi said “the giants are still operating in the stone age which is why nobody wants the job, that’s even with a qb and rb”...apparently there’s an audio clip of gettlemen saying “we have two new computers and software now” in regards to analytics...think about it, the panthers won out on a sought after coach over the giants, which has infinitely better history and a better market.

LOL
Predictable.
Also - delusional AF. In crucial games when it comes down to Dak making throws and plays for them to advance, he hasn't gotten it done. Period.
Dak should get familiar with the franchise tag concept, if I were calling the shots.

What's even more head-scratching to me is that this unknown WR coach was the WR coach at NE for 8 years! How has he not even gotten promoted up, or eventually gone to another team as an OC? His credentials are lacking.

The OC at KC, Eric Bienemy has certainly proved himself the last few years. I'm surprised he hasn't gotten a shot.

The Browns are going to hire a coach before a GM. That's totally backwards

He's been the Special Teams coach since 2012 and Belechik loves him. He was grooming him to be the next HC. Also, he was given the WR coach promotion just this past season to go along with coaching the special teams but in no way was he that coach for any length of time. He's their special teams guy and he's damn good at it. The Pats building loves him and BB gave him a glowing recommendation.

I love this hire. Giving Rhule $60 million when he has 1 year of NFL experience is insanity and I'm glad we said hell no to matching that offer.

I agree that giving Rhule that much money was ludicrous. I have a bad feeling about this. I'm scared that Tepper is gonna become Snyder 2.0

Who the hell knows, the Giants may have found something, but it just came out of nowhere. I never heard of the guy until today.

The only thing we can be sure of is that the Browns will screw up again, and be in this same position in 1 or 2 years. Their last 7 coaches were only there for 1 or 2 years before getting sacked.

for me the issue isn’t necessarily the coach or the recommendation from bb...actually, it’s part of it, but it’s really about the other things within the org.

and for all anyone knows, bb says that about everyone, including mcdaniels...most believe he was actually the one bb wanted to succeed him in ne...honestly, i doubt any coach really cares about who follows them, especially not guys like bb.

i’m no panthers fan, but i respect the hell out of rhule...what he’s done at his last two stops is nothing short of amazing, especially that toxic situation in waco...he’s a builder, his teams don’t beat themselves, and they play hard...if he allows himself to get used to trends and not be stubborn like new coaches can be, he could be good...his big moment will be cam and that $19 million.

@Heelicious mm is hiring a monster staff which makes it better for me at this point, lol...if he has indeed grown or changed or whatever, and is full into analytics and not just “we’re gonna do what we do” like garrett and that old school bs, this could be good.

I’m pretty good with it the more I hear about it.

going from college coach success to NFL success can happen but it’s not that common. So I’m ok with a former NFL coach. And I feel pretty good about Nolan as DC and Jim Haslett as ST guy. Sounds like Haslett will be a giant, needed upgrade. What happens regarding who stays and who plans the offense and calls plays will be interesting. I’m guessing they keep Moore and Kitna on.
On defense marinelli is gone. I think Richard May get a job somewhere else. If not - will he be ok as #2 defense guy behind Nolan?

I wonder if the Rhule hire will change their decision on Cam. It seemed like he was definitely leaving after this season.
