Williams with a long tip in at the halftime buzzer. 51-27 as the team's go to the locker room. We all knew Williams could shoot and all he really needed was a little confidence and this definitely is his come out game. Something else I noticed he has big time hops.. He might be able to play the 3 when UNC goes small.
Or maybe we shouldn't bitch and complain about any of our players missing wide open lay-ups . .
Seventh Woods needs to keep getting as many minutes as we can give him because if you watch him... he is close to turning the corner and becoming a big time player. He is a bit lost right now, but he needs to keep playing at this speed and this level of competition to get the feel of the game to turn that corner.
If he can shore up those inside shots, he can be good. Needs to play confident against all teams though and not just the cupcakes. Hopefully this helps his confidence big time.
Sorry, I am not one of the PC liberals that will try to justify that and empathize for the player. I will tell you how it is. Needs to make those shots. It's like saying someone shouldn't have complained about Justin Jackson missing that layup at the end of the half in the NCAA Championship.
Gotta make them. Simple as that.
I think there is going to be a good debate on whether Pinson or Williams should start down the road. I still think Pinson, but if Williams is hitting 3s confidently... it makes it a very viable debate.
Woods can get some play against lower level teams but you cannot but him in against Kentucky are it will cost us. He is far from turning the corner dude has a wide open fast break and just dribbles off his leg.
We played Luke maye at Indiana. We can certainly play seventh woods against Kentucky if that's the measuring stick being used.
Hard to measure this game at half. UNC played solid defense against a team with less talent and firepower. The only thing that concerns me is with the superior height advantage why did UNC not pound the paint every trip down. Yes Williams had a career first half but Hicks, Meeks as well as Jackson were pretty quiet in the first half.

Woods so far in his early Carolina career will not be compared to Oscar Robertson after 2 straight turnovers on lazy passes. His no look pass to a wide open Coach Williams on the sideline was sweet.
Two straight turnovers from woods against Raford. Play him against Kentucky and it's going to get ugly.
Seventh woods is fearless as hell but very reckless. Once he gets a handle, he will be a lot better. Definitely carried on that drive to the basket he just got fouled on.
The good thing I will say is last year there was a lot of waiting for someone to take the shot at times and not wanting to take it themselves... Pinson and Woods definitely are ones who will have no problem putting that shot up... lol

Woods has hops also but he needs to get on a big Mac diet because he looks like Paige as a freshman. 75-43 with 8 minutes to go and surprisingly people are leaving.
Woods wants to play like Westbrook. He wants to be a focal piece on offense when he is in. He isn't ready to do that yet, and maybe never will be able to. A lot of his issues is going too fast, not knowing the correct spacing yet, and lack of chemistry with his teammates right now.
