We're in "Pristine" shape with Trenton Simpson. If Pristine means being totally used for over a year then we're in Pristine shape. I hope this kid gets exactly what he deserves because he was totally classless from start to finish.

It was pretty well known that he wanted to go to Clemson if they offered. Not sure how he used us or what makes him classless.

How soon you guys forget how this recruitment played out. Was at Carolina for free numerous times, stops answering phone calls and texts from staff, takes a visit to Auburn and commits, still not answering phone calls and text from staff, gets cozy with staff again and decides Auburn isn't good enough and decomitts, drags staff fully back in and takes more free trips, then drags Carolina all the way to the last weekend still without a Clemson offer. Gets an offer from Clemson today and before they can get it out of their mouth he is committed. So yeah he totally used Carolina from start to finish and forgive me if I think they are classless. They must really like being sloppy 3rd or 4th choices.

So is Sam Howell classless? I think he was committed to FSU until signing day. I hate when this happens but it happens.

What about the guys we flipped from moo recently? Can't believe Mack would let such classless people on the team.
I didn't say what they did was right. I don't like any of it. It's a dirty game and the kids, parents and coaches are all to blame. If Simpson likes being an afterthought at Clemson that's fine. Because that's exactly what he was. Also I just heard that Clemson took Simpson as a defensive lineman. You guys know what that's about don't you. That's so not to piss off linebacker recruit Justin Flowe from California because they still want him. If the Simpsons can't figure this out then they're clueless.

If Clemson made the commitable offer for a DE position and Trenton Simpson took it, then he was so obsessed with signing with Clemson that his being at UNC likely would not have been particularly good for us or him.

Full disclosure, I’m a Clemson fan. But I just have to ask, are you on drugs?

Look, I understand it’s a gut punch to lose a kid you thought was a lock, we’ve lost many a kid to UGA in that fashion... But you just come across like you’ve lost your faculties

Totally expected this to happen. Was just hoping for a miracle but just our luck missed out on another in state stud that could’ve helped right away.

He got exactly what he wanted which was first and foremost an offer from clemsuck and yes we were played to a certain extent. One problem that I have with not landing him is that most kids do give consideration to the amount of time the staff puts into recruiting them and building relationships when making a decision. I guess others just wanna play for their favorite team which isn’t a problem because we do steal some in basketball but man we sure could’ve used him. So if he doesn’t become a starter soon maybe he will come home if not NEXT.

Last point as for the visits to Heaven who in their right mind wouldn’t take multiple trips even if they all aren’t paid for? I can’t think of a better place to hang out.

Carolina hosts official visits for plenty of guys who don't end up signing here because that's the nature of recruiting. Any other visits by Simpson were unofficial visits in which his family footed the bill. You sound like a fool complaining about him "using" Carolina.

I didn't say what they did was right.
But you didn't start a thread about how "classless" Stephen Gossnell was either, did you?

If the Simpsons can't figure this out then they're clueless.
So now you're going to insult his family's intelligence? You have no idea what's best for him and his family, and you're a presumptuous ass for acting like you do.

I hope this kid gets exactly what he deserves because he was totally classless from start to finish.
Wow. Wishing bad things on an 18-year old who by all accounts is a good kid, all because he changed his mind about playing a game for the team you root for. I'm embarrassed for you. I really am.

Simpson was set to go to the prom with a pretty good looking girl who recently started working out and tightening things up and has a lot of potential. But, he found out that a super model would go with him, so he dumped the first girl. Same thing.

I agree...Only way he ends up at UNC is if the Tigers don’t offer...I wish him the best...

Trenton is a "best available" type of recruit rather than a position of need type of recruit. According to AJ we'd stopped recruiting LB spots even when Trenton was at auburn.

This would hurt much more if he were a 'position of need' type recruit, like Criswell or Pinder.

You have your opinion and I have mine. What Simpson did is wrong. If Simpson had committed to Carolina and Mack pulled the offer for a better player Mack would get blasted. Simpson dragging Carolina until 5 days before signing day without a Clemson offer and then committing on the spot is nothing short of a slap in the face. A person is only as good as his word and he gave Mack his word. Make no doubt about that. Even changed his announcement plans to announce for Carolina on ESPN. I guess he should've said Coach Brown I'm all in with Carolina unless Clemson offers. We live and we learn.

Hmmm position of need. Well I must’ve missed something because we need linebackers not to say what we have isn’t working but a stud at lb would be great. Right now we have a converted qb (who has performed great his first year) and several guys that weren’t highly rated if I remember correctly. I know the stars aren’t always right but it’s a good barometer. Fingers crossed they can over perform. With all that being said we do have several areas of need too.

You'll have to excuse me if I ignore lectures on right and wrong from someone who thinks it's acceptable to demean and wish ill upon a recruit and his family.

That never happened and it's not analogous at all. Other than that, great point.

A person is only as good as his word and he gave Mack his word. Make no doubt about that.
I must've missed where Simpson publicly committed to North Carolina. Sam Howell, on the other hand, was an FSU commitment right up until the moment he flipped to UNC. What Sam did was arguably more "wrong" than Simpson, who was never a UNC commitment in the first place.

Is Howell "classless?" Was his family "clueless?" Do you hope Howell "gets exactly what he deserves" for breaking his word? It's weird, because I don't remember hearing a peep from you about Howell or any of the numerous other UNC recruits who flipped from another school.

Saying there was a staff change is just you making up arbitrary rules about what is and isn't acceptable. Howell flipped because a better situation presented itself, period. That's the same situation Simpson encountered, and besides being personally disappointed about it, no reasonable person would blame him. Then there's you.

I guess he should've said Coach Brown I'm all in with Carolina unless Clemson offers.
If you think Mack didn't know Simpson's commitment was contingent, you're an even bigger rube than I initially took you for. In fact, college football recruiting may not be for you. Grow up.

Technically speaking... is Simpon's decision to go to Clemson really even a "flip"? He said he was gonna announce on the 18th. We were all hearing good things for UNC and assumed he was locked and loaded. But he hadn't yet committed anywhere (after his decommit from Auburn).

Its definitely frustrating when we thought he was coming to Carolina. But he's making a decision for himself, not Tar Heel fans.

It is a not a flip because he never committed to UNC.

The only thing that surprises me is if in fact Clemsuck offered him as a defensive and not a linebacker. that must mean he just wants to be there and be on the team regardless of what position. Good luck to him

Yeah, that was my point. Some were saying he flipped to Clemson . But he never committed to Carolina so it's technically not a flip.
Plus, we all knew he really liked Clemson, and a large number us felt that if Clemson made the commitable offer, he would accept it.

Charlotte is right on the SC border. Clemson is close to Charlotte. Dabo is a great HC. Venables is a great DC. Clemson has National Championships for 2018 and 2016.

I certainly can see why he would want to play for Clemson.

Clemson offered him as a linebacker because that's what he is. Pay no attention to the dude telling you otherwise. He doesn't have a clue and is obviously just mad. The reason Clemson jumped on Simpson is because on Tuesday Venables went to California and had an in home with Justin Flowe. Obviously he left not 100% confident that he had Flowe wrapped up so they moved on Simpson before it was too late. They were honest with Simpson the whole way and he knew there was only one oversign linebacker spot and it was going to Flowe as long as he wanted in. Simpson obviously felt like if he stayed the course Clemson would eventually offer and they did. Sucks for UNC but you've done it to us numerous times on the basketball side so I guess turn about is fair play. Hold on to the rest of your class and it's still a success and will keep you moving in the right direction.

Easy two-step moron repellent.
Step 1: Identify the moron.

Step 2: Bitch-slap and repel said moron.

So if all that is true where does Simpson stand if flowe commits? Does Dabo pull an offer or back out of the running with flowe?

Playing DE like Vic Beasley. Flowe looks like Lawrence Taylor in some of his highlights.

We're not going to win too many recruiting battles with Clemson head-to-head right now for 5 star atheletes....

Clemson has the #1 recruiting class right now, and are just on another level....A level that the Tar Heels hope to be one day, but are not at the moment....

Wonder what impact the Tar Heels would of had with Simpson if the Tar Heels had beat Clemson instead of losing by 1 point?

Still a good class, and one that will be very important with 12 early enrollees....

I realize we may not win many battles with them but not all of them will play meaningful minutes
