Quick stuff (State game 2)...

I see we were called for 16 PF's and nvsu was called for 15...they (refs) evened it out in the last couple of minutes.

Not too worried about how many assists JB had Saturday. He's a stud player for us and I'm still seeing improvement. On a few of his drives lately he's passed the ball out to a shooter and pulled up for the tear drop or short jumper. That's a couple of things he'd stopped doing and if he continues doing them he'll quickly move back to the top PGs. As for Luke, anybody that can run up and down the court for 35-36 minutes a game at our pace is athletic. Very fundamentally sound, very high basketball IQ, very hard worker - and he never seems tired (and is usually playing someone bigger.

Wait but how is the box score incorrect from the State game? I only see Berry having 0 assists - did I miss something?
The rule was changed meanwhile some are still going by the old way which stated once the ball was drbbled no assist was given. New rules allows for the dribble so long as dhot is made equals assist. Berry should have had 3 or 4.

To be fair, most of us think Luke isnt all that athletic. And yet he keeps having double-doubles and holds up against many players who are considered quite athletic.

Maybe we should revise what we are calling athletic.
He's very athletic, just not exceptionally fast nor a great leaper. But he certainly is athletic. You don't consistently grab rebounds and shoot layups on the other end without being athletic.

While I agree with that (mostly), wasn’t it odd that for years when dook teams were similar to this years UNC team (3 point reliant), that dook still got to the FT line way more than their opponents?
Odd how that works, isn't it? In all fairness, if we'll drive more, we'll get to the line more. It was a point of emphasis in the second half of the State game. We're at our best when we're slashing to the hoop for baskets or kickouts for threes.

Well, Dave, one of the points this brings up is that there are different types of athleticism..Coordination, body-control and spatial awareness are athletic traits as much as explosive leaping ability or quickness, and Luke is also a tremendous aerobic athlete, as the guys will tell ya --- he has stamina for days and dominates the annual distance race.

Hell, Phil Ford wasn't a hi-flyer but nobody ever called him unathletic. His gfts were in speed and uncanny body-control. Different strokes...;)
Indeed.

By quarters:

UNC -- 28 07 24 37 96
NCSU - 21 16 21 31 89

Look at that 2nd quarter.
And yet we still scored 96 in regulation. Incredible.
